Have a 2014 Passat TDI CKRA. My EGR valve at the front of the engine is seeping oil. I purchased the gaskets and would like to remove and clean. What is the trick to removing it. I have read through many threads and watched many you tube videos. Struggling removing the correct bolts and getting it off, seems like some are hidden or hard to get to. Any detailed write ups or a manual?

There are just too many to list....
I'd just do it when you have to replace the oil filter housing. I do the thermostat at the same time. There is an upgrade aluminum aftermarket one.

All right out in the open when the front end is off:

I recently bought a Golf TDI and had to remove and clean my EGR valve in the front also as part of my troubleshooting of CEL’s.
It wasn’t bad at all. You need to remove the EGR Feed Pipe with a triple square socket (2 bolts). Then there is the lower large pipe with a hose clamp (1 screw). Then just get the 2 easy to get bolts and one in the back (slight tricky). I had to take both parts together, because the last bolt on the EGR was blocked.
Pretty easy project!
