I imagine that the amount of clogation in the air intake sys. varies by locale and environment... but;

would you go ahead and get the EGR sys. recalibrated with the vagcom and NOT worry about cleaning out the sludge that has accumulated sofar?

I'm not that knowledgeable about the average progression of the intake build-up, so that's why I ask this...

Thanks for your advice!

I calibrated my EGR at 41k miles. I now have about 132k miles.

I plan on taking my intake off and cleaning it some time this summer. By then I'll have a nice round 100k miles since calibrating my EGR.

I'll post my results for the forum.

Have many people done this? Is there any downside? This is the first I've heard of this and I am probably overdue for an intake cleaning on my '02.

I will clean out the intake whether I do the recalibration or not, as it's pretty gunky from what I've seen.
