Im going back under the car after buying a few goodies. Bought an ECS skid plate, aluminum timing belt lower cover, sigma shot shifter, and race pipe to get rid of EGR only. Keeping the ASV. Determined to get rid of the cooler and pipe that comes from the back to the front. I read somewhere in the past that it’s challenging to get out, but can’t find any videos or write-ups on it.

Any suggestions? Sawzall it?

It's not awful. Just be careful not to crack the plastic boost pipe right near it. If you don't spend the time disconnecting/removing everything around it you end up having to bend the EGR pipe to get it out. If it's not going back on then who cares? Make sure you have a blanker plate to install on the exhaust manifold once you get it out.

Nope, it’s not going back in at all. Guess I’ll have a good look when under to see what I can do to finagle it out without damaging anything.

I cut the flanges off the egr pipe and used them to sandwich a thinner piece of steel as a blanking plate. It's not absurd to remove with the engine outside the car but idk how I'd have gone about it if the engine wasn't out.

Is this a CJA or CBE? If it is, you need to remove the turbo oil drain pipe/support and I prefer to pull the passenger axle. Most importantly you will need to block the intake and I usually cut a small amount of the heater hose and splice it straight through. If not you will need a 90 degree. Oh and in cold weather it will take A LOT longer to warm up (like at 30f it takes 12 to 14 minutes to reach operating temp. That's all for the EGR cooler at the back of the engine, you still can do the high pressure side too. It's a bunch of work but when your done you have so much room it's crazy.
