DSG oil choice

In my mind, the first interval is the most critical on any gearbox. Most of the "break-in" junk comes out with the first lube change. I realize there are fluid degradation considerations as well. I believe 50K changes after the initial one will work fine.

DSGs need routine service because the wet clutches shed materials. The filter and fluid holds those materials until you replace them. This continues for the life of the transmission. It's not about "break in junk". But I agree that service intervals usually err on the conservative side.
