06 1.9L BRM DSG little over 300,000 miles. It is my daughters commuter car and she drives 180 miles a day.
We have had the flashing gear selector since she took a trip to Arizona and with a bad o-ring on the trans filter, the fluid got low. for 1500 miles. ugh.
Now she is having intermittent loss of power issues. If it is placed in neutral then back into drive it seems to recover. I have replaced the motor wiring harness recently.

I am also getting a p2015 p2016 even though I do not have those parts on my DSG. Nothing in the intake but the auto flap, egr bypassed in software.

I just dont know where to start, pretty sure the Mechatronic needs replacing, with all the current issues. We are in Southern Alabama, USA.

Why did you replace the motor wiring harness recently..? Did the problem start before or after that..?
Do you have any maintenance records if the DSG was maintained or not…?

Thank you for your reply.
There were two broken wires in the harness that I had repaired. They caused other errors when driving in the rain.
This problem seems to be unrelated to that, but all the connectors on that harness were brittle and the wire was in very bad shape. That is what happens when a car spends half its life in NH and half in AZ.
There are some maintenance records, but nothing on the transmission before we purchased it. We had absolutely no transmission issues until....
I changed the fluid. I have one of those transmission fluid exchange machines and an adapter for this dsg. That went fine. I used Pentosin ffl-2 and what I believed was an oem trans oil filter. After the change my daughter drove the car 1400 miles to finish her internship. apparently the o-ring was leaking, even though the filter housing was quite tight, and it started clunking and flashing on the dash then. After having two idiots look at it they could see no leak. likely because they didn't remove the belly pan, and she drove it all the way back home clunking.
Once she got it home, I changed the oil and filter again, and it seemed to be happy. Only an occasional clunk, flash, stop. Park, shutoff, start, takes care of it. The trigger seems to be stopping fast, really fast.
We got the car with 190000 miles on it, and it still operated like new. The person we bought it from only commuted in it. The flywheel was replaced at 233,000 DMF092 LUK oem, as it was rattling. doing that meant a new center bearing, and a bunch of hoses that were breaking down as well. plus about 20 of those stretchy bolts.
I went out today and changed the motor oil as it was due and I sucked some tranny fluid out to see if it had any metal in it. I saw none except maybe 1 or 3 microscopic flecks.
I believe we are down to the Mechatronic unit. But I hope for some feedback.

I had to replace the mechatronics unit on my daughters 2006 I bought this particular Jetta with 198000 miles and knew it had transmission issues
The mechatronics unit gets over heated by not changing the fluid plus brittle by its age. (Plastic)My local VW dealership matched Jim Ellis VW price…Jim Ellis is an online dealer…The dealership orders it programmed by the VIN number of the car… I paid $1200 for a new unit. I installed it myself and just did the Vag Com procedure to set it up. You are best off in my opinion to just buy the new unit and be done… again my price was only $1200 plus taxes which I thought was pretty reasonable.. now this was 18 months ago and alot may have changed since then..?

I would search ebay, scrap yards, classifieds for parts cars or partouts, used parts stores.....
There's also lots of options on the other side of the pond as far as sourcing and\or repair services

It all comes down to how long you can wait vs how much you're willing to spend.....
Ripping into it yourself and replacing the 2 problem valves would be the lowest cost, but might be more than you're comfortable with in terms of your aptitude.

It usually comes down to that when the PRNDS starts a flashing. They don't seem to last forever.

I still have the 2 valves sitting in my garage that I replaced if you are interested. It would not fix mine so I ordered the whole Mechatronic…

Is that the recommended oil that you used? Is That the proper filter…?
Out of curiosity, how do you know that you have the proper amount of oil in the transmission..? Did you use vagcom to reach proper temperature after filling to get excess oil out ..?

Thank you all for the suggestions.
To answer backfast61 - I believe the oil is correct, and the filter the second time was correct. I have replaced the oil 3 times total, with a filter change each time. Followed the instructions online for the proper level each time.
Thank you all. I have parked it and will save up for the replacement unit. I really like to do it right the first time.

I installed the new mechatronic unit and all the issues have been fixed save one: clutch chatter. Sometimes when the car is starting out the clutches chatter and it makes a horrible banging noise. The motor mounts seem fine, and the engine itself does not move when i rev in drive with the brakes on. I believe when the fluid ran low it wore the clutch plates enough to cause the chatter. There was no metal or black in the drained fluid.
rem when you replace the mechatronic you need a new pan gasket and stretchy bolts. Might as well do that while you are in there.

Did you do the adaption process?

So your car does not have a motor on the side of the intake manifold? It's not a asv Code. Also, has the dual mass flywheel been replaced? Also possible that the low fluid overheated and warped the clutch plates

Yes i successfully completed the adaption process.
yes i replaced the dual mass flywheel about 40k miles ago. Clackity clack clack all gone.
it is the asv, iwill remove it eventually, but for now it is just disconnected.

i figure it must be the clutches. It only chatters from a dead stop so we will have to put up with it for now (307,000 miles and counting)

I'm not talking the asv. Your intake manifold has a motor in it for the intake runner flaps. It's for low rpm swirl. And who knows if there's any other internal trans damage from low oil and it running hot.

If it is a BRM its a 1 piece manifold, no flaps. If its throwing codes for components the car doesn't have makes me question whoever flashed it to bypass/delete the EGR. (Even on the 2.0 16V PD's that got swirl flaps they are not monitored AFAIK, no sensors on them just a solenoid and vacuum diaphragm)

To the OP, were the transmission codes cleared after the leak was fixed and fluid level was reset? Some of those codes in your initial scan can be caused by low fluid level (I've seen P1707 from low fluid and the 00292 makes sense). Would be interesting to see what comes back vs what doesn't.

Maybe that's what the intake flap is on it. Just odd it's intermittent when it's unplugged 008213 - Intake Manifold Flap Position Sensor (Bank 1)
P2015 - 000 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent. He's complaining of a clutch shudder now.

It is a BRM, no flaps, just the ASV.
I flashed it with a malone tune stage 1.5. Is there any possibility that the tune or the asv is creating the clutch chatter?
