Dropping off vehicle before actual turn in appointment date

I'm not sure if this has been asked .. But here goes.. Has anyone who is turning in there TDI, left it with the dealer before the actual day of there appointment where they're supposed to complete the paper work and get there cheque/EFT.
I've come across a very clean ore-owned vehicle and will be purchasing it, but would like to drop off my 2015 Passat at the dealership before my August 4, appointment date. I would keep insurance on the car but will be removing the plates. Has any one done this or do you think dealer would give me a hard time ?

Dealership has nothing to do with buyback itself. Furthermore, they are annoyed having to deal with these cars in terms of storage and moving them around the lot. You can ask, but I wouldn't hope for a positive outcome.

You can also cancel your appointment and get something closer in 2 weeks.

Thanks for the reply; already tried getting a closer date.. no luck.. Yeah I hear ya, I'm just waiting for a call from General Manager of dealership ... Not holding my breath.

What about requesting temp tag from the dealer you are getting new car from? Then you can leave your plates buyback car on a city street for few weeks at a time.

I left 2 at the deakership but it was only for 1 day on one and 2 days on the other.

The dealer that I purchased my new 2015 from is being nice enough to let me park my 2014 in the back lot until next week.

Even if you are able to store the vehicle there based upon what the dealer tells you, you'll still be required to return to the dealership to be present at the time of the appointment.

You are correct, that was the plan....doing the buy back next Thursday?

Hey all; so I spoke to GM of dealership. He said no problem with leaving vehicle but as others here said, I still have to return to dealership to complete transaction and pickup check for early lease termination. He did mention something that I'd like to ask about here.. The buyback representative and GM both said that sometimes the package(check and legal docs) arrive at dealership 2-3 days prior to the appointment date. He said if that's the case no problem , they'll call me as soon as it arrives.

Well, the docs are supposed to arrive in advance of the appointment, and some others have reported here that their reps have been able to take their cars and process them early. The one I've dealt with (in four transactions so far) has said she's unable to do that. It could be that she just doesn't know any better, but she seems helpful and fairly competent.

Sorry, forgot to mention that I'm in Ontario, Canada. Yes, some claims reps have been awesome others.... well... I won't comment. Hope for the best...
