Drop in cv axle cost?

So my girlfriend's 06 TDI auto Jetta started having the dreaded clicking on turns. I checked out IDparts and after recalling that cv axles for these cars being ungodly expensive, I noticed, they were only 90$ a pop for both axles. Did something change in the market to warrant the cheaper axles?

It all depends on the brand, they recently added GSP brand axles and they are cheaper. I don’t have any experience with GSP but I have used GKN with great success. GKN is ~$250.

My BHW, which is very sensitive about axle choice has OReilley MVP remans on both sides for last 50k and they have been awesome for about 65ea.

Really? All I've read about aftermarket axles for the BHW causing all kinds of vibration at idle and the need for keeping the stock axles caused me to not take chances on them.

Well I'm about to go in on IDPARTS 90$ axles for an DSG 06 BRM. For whatever reason, the manual CV axles are still 250$ a piece.

There are just too many to list....
You are better off to rebuild the OEMs on the car rather than buy cheap replacements. I realize some versions do not allow for this, but most of the manual Ax cars do.
