Need some pointers on what else to look at. Having a clunk over bumps and when I apply the brake sharply I here the same noise. Changed sturt mount. Nogo. Took off sway bar end link. Still doing it. Inspected wishbone mount didnt have play that seems excessive. Maybe control army bushings. Or even the strut its self. But open to ideas . Thanks

Found it. Driver side control arm rear bushing. Destroyed. What a pain. Had to lower subframe to get front bolt out . Now to press in new ones

There are just too many to list....
You're welcome. ;)

Yes, I drop the whole subframe completely out to do these, due to how the arm sort of is stuck in behind the one mounting point. Pretty easy job, really, just time consuming. Electric steering racks make it MUCH easier, and with virtually no mess at all.

Came across this thread researching what could possibly be causing a very annoying clunk (going over a parking lot pot hole, speed bump, etc) in the front end. Just replaced nearly all suspension components including Mehle HD control arm kit from FCP Euro, tie rod ends, sway bar links and sway bar, steering rack. (As recommended, I torqued every nut/bolt with the suspension loaded.) Very recently I replaced front shocks and all new related hardware (Koni Orange). I rechecked every bolt and all are tight and torqued to spec. I even dropped it off to have my local shop see what they can find. They found a bad motor mount (which they changed) but the annoying clunk remains. Ideas?

UPDATE: I wasn't paying attention and I just realized this is a B7 thread. I've got a B5.5 wagon. I will post over there. My apologies.
