I wanted to post an option for replacing missing door moldings.
I got my '98 Jetta from a buddy who didn't do much cosmetic maintenance.
It had no molding strips on ANY of the doors, so I scoured the net for replacement options. The stealership has them for big $$$, but I'm not trying to restore the car. From O'Reilly's I found 18' of 2" truck molding that fits perfectly for $40 (Cowles brand). It comes with 3M tape already applied. I just had to cut and shape the pieces which took about an hour to get right. Prep the surface according to posts available on all these VW forums. When I replace the fenders I'll use what I have left to replace the smaller bits on the fenders and quarter panels.

I just used Gorrila tape to replace my missing mouldings. A roll cost $5 and now I have a sweet looking black racing stripe. Two years and still stuck.

Do you have a better picture of what this looks like?
No better pic yet...
This was a last minute cell phone shot taken just before the sun went down. I am charging my good camera for a much needed master cylinder DIY for this forum. I'll get some better shots of the new moldings then.
