Door lock buttons don't work!

Hi all,
I've got a little predicament -
The wiring and locking modules for all four doors work. When I use the key fob to remotely lock and unlock the doors they all work fine. Same for the trunk.
When I try to press the lock/unlock button on any of the four doors, they do nothing.
The indicator lights on each switch works correctly - when the doors are all locked, they are all lit up. However, sometimes I don't have my key fob and can't lock up my car.
How do I fix this? I could try buying a door lock switch and replacing the one on the driver door, but none seem to be malfunctioning at the moment.

Have you hooked up VCDS and scanned the car for codes?
You can see what switches work and what doesn’t electrically in VCDS.
If not .
It could be the ccm for the door locks.

I asked my mechanic to do this and he said that the car was registering the buttons were being pressed - but I don't recall any further detail. I've just been living with it but it's been a PITA. I don't have a VCDS tool - but I did find the following out - the rear door lock buttons function as they should - the front ones only work to lock the doors, and they need much more pressure to engage. I think it's the door lock buttons themselves. Going to try to buy & install a couple and see if that does the trick!

If we're throwing guesses at the wall, I'd suspect it is the drivers door switch.
Definitely, and the passenger one is half-dead. I am tempted to take it out, take it apart and hit it with some electrical contact cleaner.
I think this is looking at the lock assembly, and a micro switch inside there - that tells the car whether or not the door is open. Those are all fine.
This is what I'm going to replace instead-if plan A doesn't work.

Looks like they're on RockAuto for $38, and some ****ty copies of the driver's side for 10$ all over the place.

The thread I linked is so long because it goes through several/many different door lock issues, although yes, it focuses on the door lock modules. If you think it's the actual door lock/unlock buttons, just plug in one or two from a salvage car. Quick, easy, and cheap test to confirm. A search will reveal many other good threads.

If a new replacement isn't an OEM supplier, it will typically fail after a year or two.
