dome light probs - update SOLVED

my 06 Jetta door switch has to be good, as the floor lights and door ding work.

what does not work is the overhead lights. none of them, just floor lights. best i can tell the fuse is good, not sure how much i can trust online fuse diagrams. - CORRECT DIAGRAM HERE - https://www.autogenius.info/volkswagen-jetta-2003-2009-fuse-box-diagram/

i pulled the bulbs to replace them, and they looked good, but i replaced anyway, still no overhead lights, no matter switch position.

any advice would be appreciated, as i have to get help doing almost anything right now due to hand surgery.

found out more info. not sure if the horn is related, but it also doesnt work.

found vag com cable, and have central conv codes:
00059 - terminal 30 for interior lighting
012 - electrical fault in circuit
00906 - horn (H1)
009 - open or short to ground

if this means anything to anyone please advise. thanks

Off the top of my head, I once had terminal 30 open in my 06 and it caused a lot of electrical gremlins. I found out it was the relay. Check each relay individually and see if at least the horn comes back.

thanks. i actually found (after much searching) an accurate fusebox diagram, and came to the same conclusion. I ordered a couple relays, hopefully replacing that will fix my problem. then onward to the start up error messages, lol.

So, I ordered a couple relays. No luck. None of the feed lines have a blown fuse to the box under the hood. Still no horn, and no dome lights.

Any one have any idea what fuses may be related to this relay? This is a dumb problem, but one that drives me crazy. I hate getting into a dark car at night, or trying to get something out of my car and not being able to see it.

Sorry i didnt see this response with the Fuse diagram, i will check that fuse this weekend.

in addition i would like to get my CEL off, and it is seeming to be related to either accelerator pedal or that intake flap?

i did pull a VAGCom log, and found a TON of issues. i am not worried about the TPMS, as my new wheels dont have the sensors, and i am familiar with the underseat airbag fix that i need to do. the main thing is i am not seeing that many problems in use, but there are a lot of errors reported. Any added info on any of these, or things to check would be appreciated.

so for anyone that finds this thread and has a MK5 Jetta, or alike - i have found the problem. There is a secondary relay, and mine was in pieces.
FWIW - my car is PRE_MAY 06 (manufactured March 06)

FIRST the correct fuse diagrams - https://www.autogenius.info/volkswagen-jetta-2003-2009-fuse-box-diagram/

second scroll to almost the bottom and find the section called
"Relay assignment on relay carrier on onboard supply control unit"
in the diagram there is " Terminal 30 voltage supply relay 2 -J689- (449) " this is a secondary relay for whatever Terminal 30 is, if you have replaced the one under the hood #100/#458/#370 - labelled "A1" under the Engine compartment fuse box (low) and still dont have overhead lights or whatever, check this thing. it is part number 1K0951253 - https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-volkswagen-audi-parts/heated-outside-mirror-relay-449/1k0951253/

"Terminal 30" in VW wiring is the "always on" (i.e., doesn't matter if key is turned or not) positive power from the battery.

As opposed to "Terminal 15" which is switched power.

so i have had a lot of cars since 1996. but only 2 BMW, 1 Porsche, 1 Audi, and 1 VW as far as german goes. Also a SAAB, Mini, and a Volvo, for euros. i can't count the number of Nissan/Infiniti, Toyota, Honda, Mazda, and GM cars on my fingers and toes, lol

Never heard a standard for types of connections it was just "always hot" or "switched power source"

This would full circle on my underhood fuse panel. I am missing fuses in slots 1,5,9,11,14,20 - i assume from chart and diesel that 9(phone), 14(ignition transformer/coils), 20(not used) are not needed. but what about the others?

1 - 20A - CCU
5 - 15A - Mechatronic CU
11 - 20A - Aux Heat

all of the blanks actually have wiring going to them (unlike the dash end panel, many are blank), but any assistance would be great.
