Does the sift range selector and the Tiptronic shifter need to work in tandem?

So I have the haunting P0706 code. I have another thread about what I have tried here: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=432999 . My Question on this thread is if them Range selector switch mounted tot he side of the trans shifter shaft needs to move in synch with the tiptronic shifter and the magnetic sensors? or it will throw the same codes? I am wondering of I can trick it into thinking it is in Park or D down at the shifter by jumpering the correct pins or if it is futile as I need to move the Tip shifter and if the Range selector does not change switch settings at same time I will throw code and trans will go into limp mode. Does anyone have the wiring diagram info for the Range Selector switch so I can better understand it?
