Shouldn't but if you have soot already it probably won't help. The silencers tend to hold quite a lot of soot when you are just driving about slowly, if you then put your foot down for whatever reason the pressure in the exhaust throws out most of the accumulated soot, in a black cloud. With the muffers removed you won't get that effect and you will just lose small bits of soot as you pootle around, so less likely to get a cloud when you do accelerate, If you fuelling is poor though, could be a dripping or over-fuelling injector, sometimes poorly chipped cars as well, then you will just get soot all the time, Hope that makes some sense
