Does MAP slowly die like MAF

I replaced the MAF in my ALH which resolved sputtering and smoke under load at higher rpms. There was no CEL or limp mode.
Do MAP sensors also slowly fade away like MAF can? The original 22 year old MAP is in the IC because I'm still running the stock turbo.
Is it wise to install a new MAP now or just run it until it fails?

In my experience MAP sensors rarely fail. 3 of our ALH cars are still running their original MAP sensors. The other one has a 3-bar that's at least 10 years old. VCDS boost logs show they all still provide accurate data.

We are in the salt belt and there's virtually nothing left of the MAP screw heads. The intercooler will have to come out if I ever need to replace the MAP.

Thanks P2B, that's very helpful.

Ditto... many many MK4s over the years, have never had a MAP issue.

It's just a pressure sensor, after all, so sealed from the environment it's measuring, unlike the MAF... which has to flow air (clean or otherwise) thru it to work.

That's good to know since I used the original MAP when I installed a new IC a few years back. I just wiped it down and plugged it in.
