Hello I'm in the process of changing DMF on my 2012 Passat TDI DSG (CKRA). I ordered LUK DMF126(RockAuto), the part number on Fly wheel is 415-0740-09.

Torqued the flywheel, putting the bell housing all bolts aligned properly but the bell housing will not go all the way in. Stops at about an inch.

Pulled out the bell housing and tried to put the Flywheel in the grooves of the transmission shaft and it will not slide in. The groves don't align.

Is DMF126 not the part number for my car? All websites say it should fit not sure what is going on. Has any one come across this kind of issue?

Thanks

"DMF126" is not LUK part number. This must be some item number at a store you bought that thing from which is absolutely meaningless to the customer.
Did I understand correctly that you tried to put the DMF on the splines of transmission Input shaft and it did not fit? Well, if that's the case then your problem is clear.

Other things to check:
-Is your transmission in Neutral when you're trying to put it back on?
-Did you check/inspect the blind needle bearing in the crankshaft where the end of Input shaft rides? Any obstructions there?

On IDparts the LUK description is DMF 126.
On FCP Euro, the LUK part number stamped on the side is slightly different, 415-0744-09

This is just going off their website descriptions.

DMF126 is a LuK PN, and it is correct for your car. But I'm not sure why you're having fitment issues. I would wonder if somehow the wrong flywheel got into the box with the correct PN if the splines are different.

There are just too many to list....
I look up the CKRA like this:

03L-105-266-DE

Luk [long] number 4150744090, they also show the Luk [short] number as DMF181

This is a different number than the CJAA:

03L-105-266-EH

Luk 4150740090 (they do not provide the short number)

I've done a bunch of DMFs on both, and that's always what I've used, but I couldn't tell you what the difference actually is. I didn't think there was any difference in splines, always figured it was a weight thing. But they are indeed a different part number.

BRM is different yet again.... and that one I only have the Luk short number of DMF092.

DMF181 vs. DMF126 has been hashed out here at length. Both appear to work, but the DMF181 is for cars with auto stop/start. DMF126 is the correct fitment for the CKRA.

Now I'm curious on why FCPEURO recommend and sent me a DMF181? I also going to check on my old one when I get home to see what it was a 181 or 126.

Yeah, it has been discussed here... but since none of the US-market CKRAs have start-stop, how do any of these parts get here and why does the dealer (and others) show them being equipped with this DMF181?

Schaeffler is not alone at providing confusing fitment information to the aftermarket. Since both parts work, it doesn't seem to be a big deal. Either way, it's not the cause of the OP's issue.

Maybe the mk7.5 7 spd with auto start stop uses that one?

why stock 2 when one will "work"

I think the DMF181 is used in a bunch of Audi A3s that do have stop/start.

We don't stock the DMF181.

The 7sp DSG is a different animal, and those (the wet-disc version, not the dry-disc version the Jetta Hybrid used) use an 8-bolt DMF.

You don't perhaps have the old pilot bearing still in the drive shaft and the new on DMF?
Lol i mentioned in my post the splines(grooves) on the DMF and the transmission shaft don't match.

I may have already posted this, but I wonder if the wrong product was in the box. That can happen if someone returns a product and it's shipped back out to a new customer.

I bought another one. This one has same part number on the box and the part number printed on the DMF is also same as the first one(refer to my original post). However this one slides right into the splines of transmission shaft. The first one doesn't.

I'm clueless. Lesson for anyone who does this in the future, before torquing down and trying to bolt up the transmission, make sure the spline on transmission shaft and DMF matches!
