DIY injector pop tester

Hi,

I have my injectors removed and I would like to bench test them before I put them back in. I have had some major problems with the car so I would like to eliminate faulty injectors as being the cause.

Has anyone built a pop tester for the ALH injectors? I would like to know how to build one for myself.
Or, even better, if someone has one that I could borrow, that would be phenomenal!

It is amazing!

I have seen quite a few videos including that particular one.

Testing the injector using a pump like that is not ideal since there is no pressure gauge to show when the injects open. I like the test rigs that utilize a bottle jack as the pressure source. I believe that with a bottle jack, pressure can be applied slowly and consistently.

The problem is that our injectors are two-stage, so to calibrate them you need pretty accurate pressure readings, ideally using equipment with the ability to graph the profile.

If you just want to check that they open and close cleanly and have a good spray pattern the standard bottle jack pop-tester is probably enough...with or without a pressure gauge... your call. :)

Of course calibration and stage testing is out of the question. A pressure gauge should however give additional insight into injector condition. The pressure at which the first stage valve opens should be the same across all four injectors. No leaking should occur while maintaining pressure just bellow first stage pop pressure.

I have a pop tester you can borrow. I'll make sure to take note of who has it so i don't need to start another lost tool thread :).

You have all the toys!

I'd love to borrow it. Not building one will be one less thing to worry about.

THANKS!

They aren't that expensive, you can get them for $150. I'm pretty handy but to me, its not worth making one.
