Ordered a Blue Graphite 4d from Danbury. Only options: stereo and door ding protectors (don't know proper title). Paid $500 deposit. They told me 3 or 4 months.

Found a Silver 4d with winter package at MSRP. I can pick it up on Friday or Saturday. I put a placed a deposit on it and am waiting to call Danbury in the am.

I should be able to get the deposit back right?
I doubt VW is even building it?
Should I feel bad about this?

I have been driving my wife's Grand Cherokee for only a week and I think I would rather walk the 90 miles to work. It gets like 19 mpg if I drive nice, what a POS!

Feel bad  . . . . Hell no . . its your money. Do whats best for you! And yes, you should have no problem getting your deposit refunded . . its just like making any other return transaction. If the deposit was put on a CC, you'll usually have the funds back in your account within 72 hours, if that.

Read what you signed when you put the deposit(s) on the car(s). Did you sign a purchase contract on either car? What does it say happens if you cancel either purchase? I would think most reputable dealers would give your deposit back. Also, there may be state laws governing refunds of deposits on such contracts.

I doubt it matters whether the car is built or not.

No, don't feel bad. Contracts are cancelled all the time. Again, even if you signed a contract requiring forfeiture of the deposit on cancellation, I believe most dealers would issue a refund. If they are not willing to issue a refund, pursue it with higher levels within the dealer.

I had deposits at 2 dealers in 2 states and neither had even seen a TDI Sportwagen when my daughter found me one in FL!
I got my $ back right away! VW dealers have to be very frustrated!!!

Of course all those people that said they would wait for a few months to find one below MSRP are still waiting!!

I was in the same position as the OP. First dealer had my deposit for more than a month, yet no movement on my commission number. A salesman on vortex offered me two different cars equipped basically the same as the one I ordered, I accepted the second one. I got my deposit back from the first dealer, no problem.

Go get it!

Spoke with the dealer today and they are going to refund my account, no problems! I am stoked!

I hope to pick up the Golf TDi on Friday, but may have to wait until Sat.
