Dropped my car off this morning for the fix. They didn't have me get on the phone to verify anything with lawyers like some have reported in the US. They just had me sign a paper stating I know I'm not eligible for the buy back once the fix is completed.

They said is should be ready this evening. Gave me a 2017 Golf loaner from the rental company across the street.

For that period there was no "PST portion of the HST". It is all HST. That's one benefit of the HST system is there is only one level of administration. If you wanted to get back the HST, you'd have to go through the federal government. Not sure if that is possible or not.
There was always a PST portion of the HST.
Do you seriously think the BC government would give up 7% sales tax to the feds? It was purely an administrative change in the way the taxes were collected, one collector instead of two, in order to save admin costs.
The feds merely collected the HST tax and gave 7% back to the BC government. As per the BC PST bulletin I quoted in my last post, they have acknowledged that a PST portion of HST actually exists and that you can apply for a refund for this portion in certain circumstances.

We're arguing semantics. PST != any sales tax eventually distributed to the province. PST = a specific sales tax collected by the BC government. There was no PST portion of the HST. But there obviously was a portion of the HST that was distributed back to the province. If the BC government is administrating refunds of HST, that is an exception to the rule. Generally this would be handled federally.

Anyways, this a is a car forum.

I'm taking my 2013 M/T Jetta in on Thursday for the recall. We'll see how it goes. The appointment reminder just came and the notes are:

Recall - 23U3
General Mechanical 1 - 24CV

They are also providing a loaner in accordance with the settlement.

Fingers crossed here too as I sent my paperwork in around the same time you did! Ours was purchased in 2010 but hey, a guy can dream!
My wife's 2015 Golf was bought back by VW on July 22. She filled the form and sent to Victoria for PST refund on July 28, but still did not get any response yet. It took so long. Any one filled the form after July 28 and already got the cheque? We are waiting for the cheque to buy winter tires for her new car:D.

Haven’t received a call from the dealer yet with any updates but I just checked the settlement site and it no longer says a fix in not available.

It now shows this:

Thank you for participating in the Settlement Program. Our records show that this claim is now complete.
Questions or concerns can be directed to the Canadian Settlement Claims Centre at 1-888-670-4773.

They will likely email you looking for verification, asuming you included your address. In my case, they asked for an e-copy of the original bill of sale shortly after submission. After about a month and one half, they asked for a copy of the refund cheque stub.

They're very efficient when you owe them money, not so good at giving it back. :D

Just picked up the car from the dealership. Its all done.
I had cleared the CEL before I drove to the dealership. They didn't say anything about replacing the DPF.
CEL has not come back on yet. Cheque will be sent within 15 business days via FedEx.

Thanks. Yes, we included the email address in the form, so far did not hear anything from them yet. Yeah, it was summer time, guess a lot of government employee took days off for summer break, plus it was transitioning to the new NDP government. Hope the new government won't change the PST refund policy though they are planning to spend more money than the Liberal government.

Our dealer emailed me last night and said our '18 Alltrack showed up and wondered if we're still interested...

YES!!

So I emailed him back this morning and asked what they could do as we already bought this POS Outback. Wife was happy with it, I am not.

High hopes, but really they aren't in the business of giving away cars.

The 2.5i is way under powered, even with the unicorn 6M we found, no choice of leather in the Touring package, sound system is on mute; offroad it's been brilliatn. It's alright but I don't love it.

Received information guide about fix. The guide talks about what to expect in terms of vehicle performance, characteristics, fix details, replacement parts, warranty, etc.

Anyone with 2009 get the fix?

Reports from the FB group are mixed. More positive than negative... but it's only been a week... so who knows what the long term issues could be.

One guy even got told that after the fix his turbo blew.... and the dealer wanted $1000 to fix it....

Had the fix completed on Tuesday this week. The CEL is back on now with PO401. Wondering if I should wait until I get the cheque or if I should just go back now. Will be interesting to see how they deal with this.

Funny how are government works... They waited two years before they raided VW Canadian headquarters or determined they did something illegal . Think they're a little late to the party ? Can't remember exactly but, well over a year ? maybe 18 months ago their offices all over the world were being raided. I wonder if we'll see anyone taken away in handcuffs ... Lol
Interesting too that it was the Ontario gvt not the feds. You have a provincial election coming up soon?

Edit: another diesel crossover we're not going to see. Looks sweet!

Dropped car off this morning for the appointment I'd booked earlier in the week. They called a few hours later to say they didn't have the parts yet and need to keep the vehicle overnight.

They had said I could have a loaner too, but then they were out of loaners when I got there. They're covering a rental car but now I need to go pick up a rental car since I had just taken the shuttle thinking it would just be the day.

Boooo... why book an appointment if you're not going to have the parts in time?

Loaner is required as part of the fix... should have taken one up front.

When I came in he asked if I needed a loaner or not. When I said yes, he said they didn't have any left and that they'd get me a rental. He said it would take the whole day to do the fix.

In retrospect, I should have just taken the rental to begin with, but the rental car place isn't very close to the dealer so it isn't that convenient, which is why I took the shuttle.

So I am scrolling down the list of questions that the portal has...after our signed documents have been approved...
And this one is particularly DIFFERENT...
Yes No Answer Please ....

Within the last 7 years, was the vehicle ever registered outside of Ontario?
Is this a trick question or what?
We live in BC eh...
What a group...can't even get the province right...lol
This is going to be fun...

Any noticeable differences in vehicle behaviour or performance, fuel economy?

it seems there are considerable parts replaced for the fix

- entire exhaust gas after treatment system
- entire fuel system
- exhaust gas recirculation system
- air intake, air cooler, etc
- turbocharger
- glow plugs
- on board diagnostic system

Not sure if it makes sense to get the fix or take buyout instead?

I think the list you mentioned is the parts covered by the new warranty. Not a list of parts they changed.

I can't say there is much of a noticable difference. Too early to say for fuel economy. I think it idles higher now or maybe just goes into regen more often.
