Turned in my 2014 Jetta TDI with 161,207kms on the clock(came in 43kms under the 'artificial' 2000kms allowed). Drove from Ottawa to Longueuil and did the deal with RicePoint, with zero hassle. Drove away with a 2013 High Line SE Passat TDI with 106,250kms on the clock. Paid a little extra for the Passat but I'm happy.
My question is about the ADBLUE reservoir in the trunk. The owner's manual has all the ADBLUE or DEF information. It is not a 'retrofitted' TDI. What was the reason some TDIs had the ADBLUE and other models didn't or were not required to have the ADBLUE?

Has anyone started to receive letters from the VWSettlement or VW Canada for their fix?
Have not received anything in the mail yet and the portal still says a fix is not available.

If you go to the settlement site though the letters are now uploaded there.

I booked my appointment with my dealer for Sept 19.

I just got the booklet and letter in the mail yesterday. I do not plan to do it though, still planning to do the buyback.

Yep got mine today Sept 14. I still plan on taking the buyback but would like to do it next year. Don't get the fix if you are taking the buyback.
However getting Emission Recall 23U3 will end your rights to chose buyback or trade in.

Got a line on a 2016 Audi Q5 TDI Technic w/ 26000 km on the clock. Asking $48,900. About all I know at this point.

Any advice on this vehicle? I haven't been following the 3.0 fix/settlement at all. I'm guessing the impacts of any potential fix are unknown at this time.

Thanks for any replies.
that's a reasonable price I just picked up a 2015 and love it so far. it is a huge jump up from my sold back Passat. totally different animal. :) You will like it after less than 1hr of driving it. what it lacks in nimbleness it makes up for in power, doesn't spool up as quickly as the 2.0 but boy when it does! check your speedo often as you barely notice your doing 150 all of a sudden, there is so much less cabin noise (except the B/O stereo) and rock steady on the highway.

So today I got curious and called a dealership(Hamilton VW). Lady on the phone was verify friendly and helpful. She notified me that "yes" Gen 1 fixes have been approved and that they have started the 23U3 recall. Also, she told me to very with my portal(which I did) to make sure the next step was to "book your appointment". 15 mins later have an appointment set with Hamilton VW next week. They need the car for the day and lending me a loaner. This process was so much easier than dealing with the claims portal(so far).
Keep everyone posted with the car. Currently I have 3 emissions related faults last time I scanned with my Vag-com. I'm hopping that they will cover under the new emissions warranty.

What if the cheque they try to give us is less than expected

So the wife and I are reading the offer letter and she asked me the question in the title.
In the letter it clearly states to appeal the offer don't return the letter.

What appeal or arbitration is available to us if they suddenly try to give us a cheque for less money when we are turning in the car?

You can appeal only on the basis that they did the calculation wrong. You can't appeal on any other grounds.

Details are in the settlement, but long and short of it - you pay the filing fee, and get it back if you win. Lose it if you lose.

Based on how the values are set, they assume the worst when giving the offer, so a smaller check shouldn't be possible.

Question is can you still appeal after you show up for the appointment and they are trying to give you a smaller cheque?
I read somewhere a few people have had this happen....not sure where I read it.

I'd refuse the appointment, not sign anything and call the lawyers in that case.

If you aren't in the high mileage category, the only time that an offer would suddenly change from what the portal has been telling you is if you are close to a mileage breakpoint, and the 2000km they tack on pushes you into the next category.

Should make for an interesting appointment...
Hope they don't try and short change me on the deal...
Thanks for the input:cool:

PS we just received notice about the software emissions fix for our 2011
We will not be getting it done ....it clearly states it eliminates your rights to a buyback or trade in under the class action

We got the letter (or e-mail) today. Too late, car was bought back last June. Meanwhile, my '16 Golf TSI got 5.54 L/100 km on the last tank, I refilled today. That's hand-calculated, and better than the MFD readout (5.7 L/100 km); I adjusted the MFD fuel consumption to 107% using VCDS, so it's now much closer to true. Some tanks a bit above, some a bit below, but averaging pretty close. The wife's wagon, also manual, so far consumes about 0.4 L/100 km more than my hatch.

Now given that the emissions recall increases consumption by 0.4 L/100 km, and I was averaging around 5 with my Mk VI TDI (and my wife around 4.8 with hers), driving more or less the same way on the same routes at the same speeds, I can't say keeping the TDI would have made much sense.

.
As of mid July we have the buyback trade in 'letter' from RP for our 2015 GSW We have had on order (since the start of July) a 2018 GOLF R that was expected in by October but now it may not happen until January 2018. So our GSW has essentially sat in the driveway since mid July and it looks like we will be a one car family until possibly the new year....not easy as you can imagine.
I had submitted the mileage as 28k and change and we probably have another 1500 km till we would hit the extra 2000 km. I was remiss in not knowing the next mileage break point. But I am unsure about this ubiquitous 2k km #. That is, what if it doesn't take the car into the next category? Would their still be a financial penalty for eclipsing the 2000 km?

I'm sure you realize this Scratch but if you bought new in '12, your problem is that you paid HST not PST.
Understood, but this does not prevent one from claiming the PST portion of the HST (7%).
Here is an example of a PST refund for a vehicle purchased when HST was in effect in BC.

Motor Vehicles Removed from BC
If you reside, ordinarily reside or carry on business in BC, you are eligible for a refund of PST paid on a motor vehicle you purchased in BC if:
 within 30 days after the date you purchased the vehicle or the date you took possession of the vehicle (whichever is later), the vehicle was removed from BC for use solely outside BC,
 you established residency in the other jurisdiction, and
 you paid sales tax or the provincial portion of the harmonized sales tax (HST) in the other jurisdiction and you are not entitled to a refund, credit or rebate of that tax, including input tax credits. Note: For the purposes of this refund, the 5% GST is not a sales tax.
I have applied for only the PST portion of the HST I paid.

If it doesn't bump you into the next categroy, no there isn't.... But you still have to re-schedule anyway.... which is really dumb.

In your case, since the mileage brackets are moving up roughly 4000km every 2 months, maybe your car will sit long enough to 'fall' into a lower one :D

For that period there was no "PST portion of the HST". It is all HST. That's one benefit of the HST system is there is only one level of administration. If you wanted to get back the HST, you'd have to go through the federal government. Not sure if that is possible or not.

Anyways--- I just scheduled my appointment for my 2013 Jetta to go in this Thursday for the fix. This is at Fifth Ave Auto in Calgary. I bought the car last summer, so am only eligible for half the payout and I have to get the mod done to be eligible.

Our TDI wagon will partly live on this winter... in the form of the alloy wheels we kept from it, which will be used to mount new snow tires on the new replacement TSI wagon.

Presumably the rest of it will be crushed, at least that's what the dealer told us.
