Funny how dead this thread and forums went mostly everyone has either collected their cheque or is scheduled too.

Kind of sad really.

Oh well my MKIV keeps me drinking the black Kool-Aid and turning in impressive MPG - 5.4L/100km on my last fill!

Companies that specialize in loans have them overpaid ALL the time... they will send you a check without even asking.... it's normal.
ecode, are you no longer interested in the DSG service kit? it would be good to know either way,,thank you

Hi guys.....

I am looking for advice on my plan for turning in my 2011 GSW. First, a couple data points:

1) car has 145000km on it now, and when I entered numbers into the calculator before it was removed from the site, the value didn't drop until I hit around 178000km

2) extended warranty is now expired by the mileage portion, but not the time portion (May 10, 2018) - if I keep the car until the end of the time portion, I can get $1k back from VW and the dealer matches $1k with a coupon they gave me at time of purchase - I have confirmed this with them, and I will get the $2k back but must keep the car until the 7 year expiry of the warranty time term

My feeling based on the above is that I plan to keep the car until May 2018, then turn it in, after I file for the $2k warranty money back.

Then possibly find a used gas powered Golf Wagon or get a new base model 5 speed gas Golf Wagon. This however assumes that my understanding of the money I would get back for the turning in of the car is correct.

Does the value you get back decrease with each month, or is it only based on mileage at 24000km/year since September 2015?

Does anyone have any opinions on what they would do if in the same situation? I was thinking that I can keep the car until next May, get the $2k back, then return the car and end up with the same money, based on the fact that earlier my amount in the calculator didn't drop until I hit 178000km.

I want to be sure I understand correctly before I continue with the car until next May. Of course I do understand that something might happen to the car between now and then, but at the same time the car is such a pleasure to drive I'd rather keep it as long as I can.

I waited until this thread calmed down a bit from the rush of returns, and since it is related to Canadian Dieselgate, hope it's OK to post here. Thanks for your input.

Mileage is the only thing that reduces your payout. So long as the car can still drive under it's own power, of course.

Also, every 2 months, we get another 4000km added to those breakpoints (the one that you mention seems about right for a 2011), so by now your next drop likely is well over 180k now.

You can start a claim and leave it at step 11, which will give you access to the calculator again if you want to play with the numbers today.

And yes, keeping it until next year is a good idea, IMO. Same thing I'm doing.

Just hopped in the wayyyyyyyyy back machine and my notes show that week was seriously windy up here and my direction of travel gave me a favorable tail wind to-from work that week... Or missed a fill up and added 2 together :D I steadily get 43-45mpg through the summer with a 140km daily commute.

You can start a claim and leave it at step 11, which will give you access to the calculator again if you want to play with the numbers today.
^^ This!! I have a second claim progressed to step 11 and as the weeks/km's roll on I have been tweaking my km's.

I suggest everyone does this to keep an eye on the values you should be getting.... make sure they match up to the offers.

Crashtested...is it common to use US gallon when measuring MPG, even in Canada ?
I generally always use L/100 km which most Canucks are by now familiar with, but USG when posting here as it seems to be what most US posters know. I always prefer working with fuel consumption than fuel economy. I guess it's the ex-pilot in me...

Thanks, glad to hear I am not misunderstanding how it is supposed to work :). Good idea about starting a claim and leaving at step 11.

I have both in my signature but as PC says MPG is more common on the board. I drive, I consume - when it's empty i fill it :D

My trade in was completed this evening. Drove my 2011 GSW Highline up to Pfaff in Newmarket. Met the Ricepoint rep on arrival. She was very friendly and the entire process with her took about 15 minutes. Then I signed over the cheque from her to the Pfaff salesman and picked up my "new" 2015 GSW TDi Highline that has been on hold for me for several months. I'm very happy to finally see this fiasco come to an end. Also, I can still continue to learn lots from everyone here on this great website!

Wow score on your GSW TDi, nice! At my local dealer, they had 5 2015 GSW TDi's available with a wait list of 10+ clients. Enjoy your new ride...

a little update, I read on the Fb forum that people had issues with cheques not arriving the day of their turn , I verified the issue, and RP gets the cheques days in advance, so call ahead to make sure your package is in.. I mentioned to VW that I'm reading that dealers are giving a hassle to people trying to use their cheque on a purchase, because they were not certified, and the operator said they were told they were. Also RP reps are on the forums and if they hear an issue, they will escalate it, so keep at em..

Returned to VW: 2015 Passat Highline DSG EarlyLease Termination
Wow...that sucks, especially for someone who drove very far to turn in their vehicle. Not sure if this has been discussed: For a Early Lease Termination, does the person have to bring in a cheque ? for any damage, wear and tear to vehicle ? I thought I read this months ago when the program first rolled out.

Mk VI forums seem to be drying up too. I guess as the Mk IVs age and develop more problems, there might be more activity on that side with owners looking for answers, but Mk IVs aren't eternal...

That's it for me, did my appointment today and traded keys for my 2017 SportWagen.

I called ahead because I couldn't find my parcel shelf, and it wasn't an issue. Very painless process at the dealership today. Shame I had to wait almost 2 months for the RicePoint process to fully wrap up from original sign up, oh well.

It sounds like things are going smoothly for people now; that's great.
I had to cancel my July turn-in appointment because my dealer said they could not 'bank' the FMV for two months (no issue banking my deposit from March!).

Now both go back mid-Sept but if my 2018 is not in by then I guess I will have to push the date back again or just buy a damn truck.

Quick question, who's the issuer of the cheque?

I have a deposit down on another vehicle which I plan to pickup the day of my turn in, private deal. I wanted to know if it's a VW cheque, or a Ricepoint cheque. The last thing I want is the bank deciding they want to put a hold on the cheque because they never heard of some company.

Also, my final payout shown on their website after I booked my appointment went up from the quoted amount by $800.. so that makes me even more happy.

$23,628.00 for my 2011.

Those with 2010's, keep your headrests! The L-shaped ones are much better for rear visibility and fit mk7 no problem.

Returned to VW: 2015 Passat Highline DSG EarlyLease Termination
Good morning everyone: have a question...has anyone that is in the process of returning their TDI to a selected VW dealership actually dropped off the vehicle early in anticipation of their actual return date ?

I've already purchased a replacement vehicle for my Passat and would like to go and pick it up. I spoke to a Claims Specialist this morning who is in the scheduling department and he informed me that I could contact the dealer this Monday and ask if it would be allowed to drop off the vehicle sooner, then come in on my new appointment date to complete the paper work and pick up the cheque for early lease termination.

If anyone has done this, I would love to hear from you...

Thanks in advance..

I am sorry to ask, but how do I do to see something like this?. I made my appointment, and now I am in step 19, where I can only see the place, date and time for my appointment.
