Interesting. I thought there was a 25 day lead time for the appointment to allow the cheques to arrive at the dealers. This gives one hope! Also waiting since 28 April.

I mailed in one for an HST rebate (Ontario) yesterday after seeing the earlier post in this thread. I included another cover sheet to outline why I was submitting this to help them understand the reason. Worth a shot for 13% of the value of my purchase price returned to me.
I am planning to send one, too. So, reason 1C, correct?
Did you mail it to:
Summerside Tax Centre
275 Pope Road
Summerside PE C1N 6A2
?
This is a PEI address ... I am from Ontario, too.
Thanks.

Correct. 1C fit in the "other" category of mailing addresses.

Same here. Four weeks for me now waiting for the darn letter.

A friend of mine in the neighborhood submitted everything at the same time, got his offer two weeks ago and last week confirmed his appointment for June 24.

Here's a tip for those of you setting up appointments at Dealerships to drop your TDI off and collect your cheque. So, apparently the cheques are Purolator(Couriered) out of Toronto. If you set an early Monday morning appointment for your 'drop off', you may be waiting till the afternoon for UPS, to show up with your cheque. I know about the 28 day window from time of the inspection to the drop off date, BTW.

Good Story

So, Here's one for the books..... I am scheduled to return my 2012 Passat TDI this afternoon.

Last night I took all my personal items out of my car and found my spare set of keys and laid them on the console so I wouldn't forget them and admittedly forgot to lock my doors during the night... (I never forget to lock my doors) Car gets stolen off of the driveway...

Luckily they returned the car after putting over 100km on it, damaged the rear bumper (over $1500.00 in damage) and kept my spare set of keys. Called the police - dusted the car for prints and gave me a damage sticker... Now what???

Went to my VW dealer this morning after the Police were done with the car and told them what happened . The Ricepoint rep was there and I showed him the car and the damage. He told me that they would accept the car with the damage - he said it didn't affect the drive-ability and he felt really bad for me. I return my car in an hour and never have to see it again... What are the chances of that happening....

I'll be parking my new 2015 Passat TDI in the garage tonight and my wife's car is going on the driveway....:)
Once you guys in Alberta get your own Provincial Police Force, all thefts of vehicles will cease or if they are stolen, they'll be returned with a full tank of Fuel, AVIS-Style

BUYBACK : Golf Sportwagen TDi 2010
I received my check! I went to the dealer last night for the buyback. The transaction was done with a VW manager, not with a RicePoint employee as it was in the evening. Buyback/trade-in started yesterday at this dealer and I was the third to bring his car. To my surprise however, he checked that I had the owner's manual, spare tire and double trunk floor ?! It was on his checklist but I did not read anywhere that it was necessary.

Also, he told me that the 2009-2014 cars went directly to the pound. This is the sad part of the story... if you don't call this polution...

I wish you all good luck with your buyback process, and good luck with your new car! This might be one of the last message I post here because I bought an hybrid car and next car will be 100% electric.

Take care and good luck!

Another bit of info on the early lease termination.
I just got a phone call from Ricepoint.
They wanted the EXACT mileage of my car.
I only knew it within 1000km but it wasn't good enough for them.
Since I'm at +/- 68000 KM and my lease is good up to 100 000 KM, I told them it was totally irrelevant. The lady on the phone (who talked to me rather unprofessionally like we were old friends) then said on the day of the return, I needed to be within 2000 KM of the mileage I declare. WTH? I paid for 100 000 KM!
Anyway, she gave me a phone # to call them back with the info.

Still no info whatsoever on the importance (or not) of the actual condition of the car. Got a few scratches and a wheel cap missing... Not sure what I should do.

Did you just tune into this conversation? Maybe it's you geographical location that you feel some sense of over-entitlement?

Right from the start it's been clearly stated, and again, and AGAIN that you have 2000km from the time your appointment is confirmed. Go over and start again. It has N O T H I N G to do with the amount of km's in your lease.

I'm gonna type slowly so you better understand (given YOUR geographical location...). ( yourself)

I've followed this whole process, both in the US and in Canada right from the start. The early lease termination process (in the details of its application) is not as clearly outlined as the buybacks in both the judgement and Ricepoint documentation. It's just a fact.

No, no you haven't if you're here today complaining about your lease and 100k km Vs. the 2000km as stated, very, very clearly.

From the FAQ dated April 27, 2017

61. Please note that driving your vehicle more than 2,000 km between your pre-appointment confirmation call and your appointment may result in a reduction in Vehicle Value and Fair Market Value, or an increased excess mileage fee, as applicable.

That hasn't changed or some how magically appeared this week.

Had my appointment yesterday afternoon and returned my 2012 Passat TDI. The Rep was very polite and friendly, we walked around the car and checked for the spare tire and owners manual, I started the car for him and ran it for 10 seconds. He looked at the damaged right rear bumper (see previous post about the car being stolen and returned damaged the night before) He said everything looked good and I signed a few papers and was done, it took no more than 15 minutes. I walked over to the finance Manger filled out a few papers for my new 2015 Passat TDI and was on my way. The whole process was less than an hour and I even got a tutorial on my new car.

Thanks everyone for your input on this forum. It has been very helpful and entertaining at the same time. I hope the best for all those still waiting for check marks and offer dates, hopefully the system will get caught up.

It's a sad time for the TDI, way too many good cars being impounded and eventually trashed. For me, I'm going to enjoy my new TDI for many years to come...

WTH? I paid for 100 000 KM!
Just like the people who paid for extended warranty. I guess its a case of TFB.
The court statement did say that not everyone was going to be satisfied with the settlement but it did cover majority of TDI owners.

Early lease termination has nothing to do with vehicle value and fair market value. I'm not entitled to either so I don't see the paragraph you stated as applying to this scenario. I'm just handing back the keys earlier than stated in my lease contract without penalty. This is exactly how it's worded in the settlement. (And I get a check in the process, for which I'm grateful... ).

All I'm saying is that I UNDERSTAND how the mileage affects the buyback value as the amount is adjusted accordingly. Therefore, I also understand the reason behind the 2000km allowance.

What doesn't make sense is that in the case of a lease, the check I'll get is unrelated to the mileage and ONLY based on the model year of the car (if you drive a 2013, you get X$. If you drive a 2015, you get Y$).
If my current mileage was 99000 KM and I drive 1500 KM between now and my appointent, I understand I'd be on the hook for the excess mileage, fair enough.
But since I'm at +/- 70 000 KM, why would they care how much I drive until my appointment, as long as I'm under 100 000 KM?
I'm not buthurt by this... I just don't see the reasoning behind it. Ricepoint should just say: "Don't drive over your allowance or you'll have to reschedule and we'll issue a new check for the amount minus the excessive mileage".

The judgement was for the group as a whole, why should a leasees get any type of special treatment?

I feel your pain...

Lets say you are in any lease, not this one in particular. At some point in the lease, you can buy the car in cash. This value is dependent on how much you paid and how much is left. And now you can sell this car. How much you get from a seller is dependent only on the condition on the car and how many kms are on it. In effect, if you sell your leased car to someone, nobody cares about your lease terms, only about the kms on your vehicle. The lease terms only matter if you are completing the lease and returning the car. In this case, you are selling the car back to VW, so the evaluation will solely be based on the value of the vehicle. That is my take.

Hey Alex...
Thanks for the heads up...my lease will probably be over by the time I get my offer letter...LOL. !!
Wow...What's the reason for wanting the Exact mileage ?? I paid for 100,000 kms as well, and I chose a four year lease. I'm currently at 39,780 kms. So way below allowance. I should have been at 50,000 kms by June 15,2017.
Maybe they'll reimburse or prorate the mileage according to allowed mileage per year ?
Keep us posted...

So I sent the email to the SVPs at Ricepoint yesterday...got my offer letter today!!
To all of you who have emailed Ricepoint regarding the long wait for offer letter. It hasn't been a month yet, closer to three business weeks for me. Would it help if I email them ? Does anyone have a direct link or correct email address for them...?
Thanks in advance...

It was a long road, but I've now an appointment to trade in after filing on the 28th of April. Can't wait for July 10th now (Could have picked an earlier date but will be out of town until then).

I can't be 100% positive that my email helped but i don't see how it could have hurt. Have you called their call center? In my case I was told my offer letter was created on 5/9 and called in the last 3 weeks asking for updates. I would assume they looked at my file and realized there was something wrong and its was fast tracked.

Appointment booked for July 4th!
