I'm reaching out to these guys today and will link to the Google reviews (1 star) to prove that it's not just me having issue with these guys.
Will give it a few days and will then switch to buyback no-trade. Had enough calling these guys daily and being rejected repeatedly due to their errors. My TDI needs a number of important repairs (brakes, replace front suspension, wheel bearings, 90k service 10k overdue), and I'm not willing to pay for them.
Thank you for this kodered. After I sent an email to RicePoint support about a week ago (the email address is on their website), cc-ing the people you mentioned here, things changed radically. Soon after, I got a reply from Janainna Pietrantonio, who helped me with the process and today I have a confirmed appointment for trade-in, for June 26th. Yes, I know, not over yet, but I am getting there.
I agree with those who said that talking to CSRs is - usually - useless. In my case, the email helped.
Thank you Janainna, I really appreciate your help! The customer service that you provided is outstanding, much appreciated. So different from my initial experience with RicePoint, when I had been staring at green checkmarks for 18 days with no progress.
I will report back on how the actual trade-in goes on the 26th of June.
The numbers are very close to what I was presented in earlier steps. My 2012 Jetta TDI is (very) low kms, no loan, no lien, etc...

Glad it worked for you as well. I went from stuck at step 15 to booked appointment within 36hrs after sending these parties an email. Explained to them that a whole bunch of people are stuck due to the technical issue that they had early on. Rep who called me to schedule an appointment said my case was high priority.

Unfortunately earliest they had was Canada day. So I had to move it to the following weekend as I couldn't take a day off work in July.

Returned to VW: 2015 Passat Highline DSG EarlyLease Termination
I have an appointment scheduled for June 28. Early lease termination on my 2014 Jetta.
However, the whole lease thing appears to be quite obscure right now. I talked to my dealer, VW Finance and Ricepoint and got essentially 3 different versions of the process that MAY be ahead of me.
No one knows for sure if there will be an inspection like any other lease (usually performed by contractor "AutoVIN")? Got conflicting answers on that.
Usually, on a regular end of lease, we are automatically contacted for the pre-return inspection. VW Finance knows the date of the return and mandates AutoVIN to contact all leasee for the inspection +/- 2 months ahead of time.
In the current situation, I don't think a "link" was created between Ricepoint, VW Finance and AutoVIN to handle this leasing scenario.
It'd be awesome if the condition of the car is not taken into consideration upon the return of the car (got a few scratches on bumpers, nothing huge).
However, I want to make sure I won't be charged AFTER my car is returned for excessive wear without any chance from me to fix whatever excessive wear they declare unilaterally.
If anyone has more info on this, please share!
Thanks so much Alex !! Yes, it seems that there are not many people on here that are leasing. Oh well...I just hope it goes well and don't find any surprises after it's all said and done. Good luck with your return, and please let us know how it goes. Thanks again, much appreciated..

Don't take it the wrong way, but how does someone buy a new car without knowing the price or options offered?
As far as I know, the 2018 will be Mk7.5 with a mild refresh, so prices may not be the same as 2017?
No worries,

I know everything but the price (options, colour, estimated build date). I went in and the business manager entered the order on their system while I waited.

Price? It won't be that different from a 2017 and if we can't come to terms I walk away.

Besides, if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it, ha ha

How much did they require for a deposit?

I will go for a manual, six speed, dual final drive transmission. I would like to know if we will get in 2018 what US got in 2017. This similar to NFP, 2.0 TDI 2012. Almost 1700rpm @100Km/h with 205/55R16.
Any insight?

BC residents can apply for a PST rebate for purchases after April 01, 2013 http://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/taxes/sales-taxes/forms/fin-355mv-refund-provincial-sales-tax-motor-vehicle.pdf
Apparently we can also apply for a GST/HST rebate from the federal govt as well http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pbg/gf/gst189/README.html I haven't checked this out yet, grabbed off the FB page.
Can anyone else confirm about that HST rebate? Is there more information on what we can claim?
Good luck with that... Your only hope is getting the government to side with you that you paid the HST 'in error'. This HST is form is primarily used for businesses, not individuals.

If you truly want to try this, talk to a good tax lawyer first... There is ZERO chance the Canadian government simply sends you a cheque for many thousands of dollars after filling out a form....

Oh, and the BC form isn't going to work either, look at the reasons on page 4 - none apply.

The manual finally comes to Canada! That *might* tempt me back into the buyback and trade from the modification camp.

I can't do the Trendline with 5 speed, wife has one and I HATE the seats. They were fine for short trips around town but on a 5 hour road trip on the weekend I was crying for mercy. I've never had an issue with the leather sport seats in my TDI, even on 6000km trips.

Gone...
Bastards!
Mine dinged me for $1000 when we put our order in yesterday. 2018 Alltrack 6M w/Light & Sound package
My dealer didn't require a deposit on our new Trendline wagon. It's been sitting at the dealer's since mid-May. When things were dragging on with RP, I asked if he wanted to have a deposit to hold it and he said no, we'll keep it for you. We ordered it in late January.

We got our mileage confirmation phone call today for our appointment June 27th. Alas, the nice lady at RP wanted to talk to my wife, not me. I had noted the mileage and texted my wife the mileage and gave the RP lady her cell number.

Hmmm... where have I heard "you won't get your money back" before?

I can see the news at 6 now: "VW defrauds customers, govts refuse to refund associated tax dollars".

So I finally 'screwed up' the courage to phone RICEpaddy and advance my file only to be told that after 33 days, my financial consent form had been 'rejected' and that a form letter had been on its way, when I interrupted the 'process'. So back to step 13, because my 'consultant' said it would be faster to go back, rather than, go forward. Onward Christian Soldiers. Have Faith in Big Brother.

Sorry to hear about that.
Good luck.
Seriously though, does make you wonder why is it so hard to arrange a buy back? Here is the mileage, plug it into a formula, calculate worth, make offer, if accepted make an appointment and done.
Almost feels like they are deliberately trying to make it a headache.

Post I saw
http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pbg/gf/gst189/README.html

GST refund. I spoke with a supervisor of the Business GST help line and she was very helpful saying we are entitled to a refund of our GST for our POS TDI VW's. This is what was explained to me and the process from the very helpful phone support. Download GST form 189, http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pbg/gf/gst189/README.html . Use the reason code, 1C ( amount paid in error), you will need to submit a bill of sale that proves your purchase and what you paid in GST. VW paid the... GST for the car so you should be able to get that money back I am told, because VW was in breach of federal emissions when VW sold the cars. Time wise it will take around 6 weeks for a refund but hey $1500 is a nice bit of change.( Could pay for an oil change at Saskatoon VW if anyone is silly enough to by a car from them) Thoughts or information from the group would be appreciated as I am not an accountant or a lawyer and please let me know if any of this information is in error.

I mailed in one for an HST rebate (Ontario) yesterday after seeing the earlier post in this thread. I included another cover sheet to outline why I was submitting this to help them understand the reason. Worth a shot for 13% of the value of my purchase price returned to me.

1 hour to get my Green Checkmarks back

So I finally 'screwed up' the courage to phone RICEpaddy and advance my file only to be told that after 33 days, my financial consent form had been 'rejected' and that a form letter had been on its way, when I interrupted the 'process'. So, after resubmitting my documents, including the 'new' consent to disclose financial information, I'm back to green check marks about an hour after uploading. Colour me IMPRESSED. On to the next step.

So, Here's one for the books..... I am scheduled to return my 2012 Passat TDI this afternoon.

Last night I took all my personal items out of my car and found my spare set of keys and laid them on the console so I wouldn't forget them and admittedly forgot to lock my doors during the night... (I never forget to lock my doors) Car gets stolen off of the driveway...

Luckily they returned the car after putting over 100km on it, damaged the rear bumper (over $1500.00 in damage) and kept my spare set of keys. Called the police - dusted the car for prints and gave me a damage sticker... Now what???

Went to my VW dealer this morning after the Police were done with the car and told them what happened . The Ricepoint rep was there and I showed him the car and the damage. He told me that they would accept the car with the damage - he said it didn't affect the drive-ability and he felt really bad for me. I return my car in an hour and never have to see it again... What are the chances of that happening....

I'll be parking my new 2015 Passat TDI in the garage tonight and my wife's car is going on the driveway....:)

I don't think you CAN lock your keys in the car, so maybe you did 'lock' it.
