I'm in Quebec; for my 2013 Comfortline wagon we are getting $12.6k for the trade-in value, total $15.3k for the Sept. 2015 value. The latter is a bit less than I expected, the former a bit more.

I'm still waiting for documents to be approved... any other Québecois out there have their docs approved yet?
Yes mine have been approved since Saturday.

Did you get an email that your documents have been "approved" or did you have to check the site?

I looked at the website.. the last email I got from the site was that I uploaded my documents and that they would look at them to make sure that they are good and the next day I went to look and the documents had changed from to be reviewed to documents complete.

I hope they get going soon... our new wagon is in port, ETA range at dealer May 11 to 23d.

VW not willing to cover disabled hand control cost!

I am getting passed back and forth from dealer to VW and no one will get me an answer!
I am disabled and use hand controls to drive. I literally bought my sportwagen one day before the scandal came out so I have all 3 options but I feel that I should be compensated for my hand controls!
Thats an extra expense ($2000) to have them installed into a car that I thought would be good for years, and now I have to give it up!
All I have been told is that no after market modifications will be covered... this isnt just a stereo upgrade or something... I NEED these to drive!
Shouldn't I be compensated???

I don't think there's anyone who would tell you that your concern is not well-founded. Sadly, I don't think the class lawyers did any negotiations for people in your situation. I would give the class lawyers a call and see what they say. If the class lawyers don't help you, I'm sure if you suggest to VW that you might start calling reporters, their attitude will improve very quickly.

I've been in the same boat since Monday morning. I'm happy to hear that they acknowledge there is a glitch. All we can do is wait and see.

Like ElectricMayhem, says you're in a rare and unfortunate situation. But this doesn't mean you should be kicked to the curb. I'm sure Pat Foran of CTV News " On your Side(Consumer Alert) or Sean O'Shea of Global News(Consumer SOS) would love to hear from you. Have them give VW Class Council or what the hell, VW Canada themselves and I'm sure you'll get results...Hope it all works out for you.

Well the sooner all this mess is behind us, the better. Today my wife was complaining of a very loud noise from the suspension of her TDI, and a loud "SPROING" when she turned the steering wheel hard over. So I had a look and listen tonight and sure enough my suspicion was right: broken right front coil spring. Damn. And the car is 1500 km overdue for maintenance. I took the broken offending piece out but am not too keen on driving the car too far in that condition. In fact when I traded my Mk VI in a year and a half ago, I had exactly the same issue.

I'm really reluctant to spend money on it, so we decided to park it. I'm retired at the moment so she can use my car to go to work. If we have to use hers, it will be very short local trips only.

I sure wish this fiasco would be behind us very soon. Her new replacement car is in port.

Submitted docs Monday night. Still under review as of today (no green check mark yet). Plus they say that portal will be taken offline Saturday night until Sunday morning for maintenance.

It looks like a redux of the whole thing in the US. Some people get lucky and the process is smooth sailing for them while others get entangled in a string of delays.

I have just replaced my two front springs in my 2009 JSW (because the one on the right failed) and still have the left one. Seeing that you're in QC give me a message and I can give the spring free of charge :) (or a beer) :))

2 front spring failures in the last 12 months for my 2012 wagon is a good enough reason to shop elsewhere for a replacement. Over $1,000 in repairs for a component that should never fail. I believe the newest models are manufactured in the same plant, same process for coating the springs, we can expect the same results.

Funny you guys talk about springs.
Last week I was driving into the garage and taaa-daaa.... the end part of a coil spring laying on the floor.

Hmm... seems like an endemic problem! Both front coils broke on my Mk VI, the last one about a week before I traded it in. I took out the broken end and drove it like that for a week. Now this on the Mk V.5 wagon. I suspect one in the back is rattling as well. Do you guys do a lot of dirt road? I live on a dirt road and I always attributed the issue to that. I figured a stone chip would split open the coating and that would give rust a starting point, leading up to a failure.

The big difference is that it too 91k on our wagon but on my previous Mk VI it took over 130k km for the failure to occur.

Right now with the buyback I'm sticking with VW because of the extra cash advantage of the trade-in (tax credit for actual market value). But when time comes to trade in the VWs I may look at Honda again. I like the new Civic hatch. I find the exterior ugly but the interior is very nice and the 1.5 turbo with 6-speed manual seems like a tasty little package. And replace the wagon with a CRV. Boring yes, but as a touring car, not so bad and I'd still have the Civic for fun. Our 1998 Odyssey van was awesomely boring, but awesomely reliable. Best automotive value ever, 15 years, 300k km, no broken springs (but lots of exhaust components changed though). My main draw to VW has always been the 12-year corrosion warranty though, plus the way they drive.

The CRV is nice, LED lights, bells and whistles.... I did look at it and considered it.
But to answer your question, no dirt roads really. Then again I do live in NB and seeing you're from QC, you know that there isnt much difference between a dirt road with potholes and an actual road. ;)

My 2012 Jetta also had both front coils springs break within a week of each other. Unfortunately i fixed the first one, but decided to park it after the second.

For a bit of good news...This morning I received my "Final Offer" for the buyback. Hopefully this whole VW mess will be the rear view mirror of my new CX-9 very soon. ;)

I took the CX-9 for a spin too...the rear doors are way to long for my garage. lol

Yeah curious how different was your final offer from the estimate...and are you able to book an appt already or is that another stage happening later on?

did you get a call? or did you get an email for the final offer? can you provide more info on that because people will likely want to know? when do you have to bring it back?

The value in the offer was exactly the same as the value from the estimator tool.

The offer was a pdf document that I downloaded from the claims website. In this, there are two documents that we have to sign, the actual offer to buyback the car, and a "Release of Claims" legal document.

I have signed and scanned those and uploaded them to the claims website.

Now I'm waiting for those to be reviewed. I expect that once my signed offer has been reviewed and accepted, that i should be able to schedule a time for a buy-back....but there was no indication about how long this step will take.

I received an email (No Call) telling me that my offer was available. Here's what to look for in your inbox (I've change my offer number and VIN):

"The offer letter for your claim with reference number, XXXXXXX, for VIN XXXXXXXXX is now available on the Claims Portal.
Please click here to visit the Claims Portal and view and download your offer letter.
Your offer letter will include instructions concerning what steps to take if you decide to accept the offer. Please note that you will be required to sign and return the documents in order to accept the offer and move to the next step in obtaining your selected benefit."

Also, for reference, I registered for my claim (including uploading ownership, etc) on Friday Apr 28, and all my docs were approved by Monday May 1. I'm not sure if it affected things, buy i am doing the simple buyback, and i have no loans on my car.

Awesome. Congrats. Looks like you're the first.
It will be interesting to find out how long before you can schedule your first appt.
My new ride has been waiting for me for a week now....cant wait.

This glitch is going to cost me 'weeks' in appointment delay according help line. Was on portal within a minute or two of opening. Then I hit the postal code glitch. Persevered and by 2 pm, got finished all submissions. Saturday got the word that my ownership had expired. Got a new sticker and resubmitted Monday am. Am still in document review stage. Called help line to discuss appointment times. Guy almost laughed and said I was 'weeks' away from the appointment process. Too bad, so sad. Would be nice if they could reset submission time to when first valid submission made.
