with dpf delete straight pipe into stock muffler... i would be hard pressed to say it sounds any different then stock...

without muffler i would liken the sound to a suby wrx/sti with an aftermarket exhaust system
Perfect... That's the route I will take. Thanks man

Did you look on the Malone site? That'll give you an idea.

Anyone have a picture of the DD down pipe with resonator and cat installed?

Go to ARod's site (www.fixmyvw.com) and check out BuzzKen's exhaust kits. I've only heard great reviews via this forum. Knockout customer service from both Ken and ARod, and I like the idea of supporting our smaller businesses. Only issue may be if you live up north and drive on salt roads with the 409SS, but most reviews that I've read about BuzzKen's pipes have been excellent, even from the Yankees. Heck, he builds them in Canada!

Just out of curiosity why did you go with the 2.5" instead of the 3"

Not going bigger turbo in future and from what I have been told and read 2.5 is plenty. The 3 inch does experience some boost creep as well

The resonator isn't actually touching the tunnel. It's close but like 2" from it. Pretty solid setup. Just wish the down pipe hangers on the subframe were made differently.

Did you happen to take some "before" pics from front to back that could show what you are referring to when you said you wish the hangers were different?

Cat+res installed.
Don't take this the wrong way, but is it supposed to zig-zag all around under the car like that?

it looks like the downpipe support is way skewed to the right pointing up and the OEM pipe is skewed to the left pointing down and the rest was kind of just put in however.

I've never been under a CR or put one of these on before so maybe there's good reason that it looks like that?

The downpipe hanger that connects to the subframe is just shoved in the rubber monuts. I had a TDI Guru install my exhaust. He has done several other DPF deletes in the area. I know it's a strange setup but it works.

All the pipes are inline and not skewed in any way. They are in there how they were welded up to be. The down pipe hanger was welded onto the pipe no way to change that. Just wish the hanger was like the Rawtek one that actually used bolts.

Hey Killa I went with the same set up.. DP, Mp, and Res into stock muffler. How is your diesel smell now compared to before?? Also what is your turbo whistle like compared to before?

The diesel smell is there on warm up of course because the cat hasn't warmed up yet. I mean its not bad. No where by any means a school bus, or an older pickup for that matter. It lingers once and awhile but I welcome it, its the signature of our car club.

The turbo whistle is much more noticeable. I mean If I took the original muffler off it would be there much more often. I hear the winding down of the turbo once and awhile, and if I am in a drive through I can definitely hear the turbo.

So DD reuses what we have from the factory and Rawtek modified?

I just picked up my passat complete with Dieseldubs downpipe and midpipe with resonator set-up!! Man it is stealthy... barely any turbo whistle on start up and very mild when getting on it. seems to pull way better... taking a trip to Philly from FL this weekend so will post mileage when I get back

Thanks to all the feedback and help guys

Glad to hear you are pleased. Makes my plans for this install more exciting. Looking forward to this upgrade.

I'll try and take some before, during, and after pics. As long as Les isn't camera shy.

update and it aint good... long story short i ended up having a CEL come on and it threw a P208E code... after that the adblue warning came on which is according to Les at Dieseldubs that black death pretty much!!! he said some people are having issues with this and it might require resinstall of stock DPF system then a re flash of ECU then reinstall back to his downpipe set up. I think my issue was the fact that my installer may have had a sensor not hooked back up properly or turned the key before everything was hooked up which throws the adblue code. Either way I am not saying do not get the tune, but call Les and talk to him and make sure you have a shop that knows what they are doing!!!

Aullen just because you had a bad experience with the installer doesn't mean there was an issue with the tune. Did you do enough exploring into, and talking with your installer before he took on such an adventure? Had ever done that install before?

Personally I'd call your installer back and force him to make it right, and re do the tune. I don't think it would mean to re install the entire exhaust. Than, just reflashing the ecu to stock then install, fix the issue with the adblue then, reflash the ecu to stage 2.

If he won't fix the issue then post it on TDIClub for people to avoid going to him.

Borla exhaust with DPF delete?

I'm getting my "tune" done in a couple weeks. Going with DieselDubs- CAT and REZ with stock muffler.

I'm kind of leaning toward a Borla exhaust to go with it. It makes sense to me to go ahead and replace the stock muffler (the remaining OEM exhaust components after the new system. This way I have a brand new exhaust from the engine to the bumper. Just wondering what the sound would be like. I noticed there is a difference between DD's stainless 409 and Borla's stainless 300 series. I suppose it doesn't matter the two being used in tandem. Any other options/brands? I'm open to suggestions/options. What I don't want is a racing or loud exhaust system. Would having the CAT and REZ be enough to quiet things down without a muffler? Here's the set up from Borla...

You can message buzzken on here. He make's excellent exhausts. My brother and I both have the dpf delete from buzzken, but I have Ken's 409ss cat back and my brother has a borla. The borla is louder and has a more raspy sound. I find Ken's has a much cleaner sound to it.

I just installed a Rawtek downpipe and midpipe with cat connected to the stock muffler over the weekend. You can hear the exhaust at idle. It's not loud, but there is sound coming from the rear of the car for the first time ever. I think the resonator is way overkill if intending to use the stock muffler, but it may not be quiet enough if you're going with a straight pipe axle back exhaust. You can definitely tell it's a turbo diesel now. There is a nice boom from the exhaust on startup and you can hear the turbo spool at low speed, but it's unnoticed on the highway. I'm a bit disappointed with the effectiveness of the cat. The engine was at operating temperature after some spirited driving, so I would hope the cat would have lit off by then. I haven't tuned it yet, but you can definitely smell the diesel at idle with the windows down or if you reverse. I'm shipping my ecu today, so maybe that will change once it's running correctly without a slew of mil codes.

Build quality was outstanding on the Rawtek components. I would have preferred to go with a US manufactured exhaust, but the Rawtek was only about $100 more than the diesel dubs and the downpipe is schedule 10 301ss pipe rather than 409ss tubing.

DPF delete- which sensors are used?

What exhaust sensors are kept (re-used) with the DPF delete? In looking at Rawtek's product, there are 4 ports for sensors on the down-pipe and 1 port on the mid-pipe for a sensor.
Does anyone know what these are and even better, part #'s ? Looking at DieselDubs product, I only see 3 ports for sensors. Could be the way the down-pipe is sitting in the picture. Not sure if DD's down-pipe has 4 or only 3. I don't know what sensors, if any, are on DD's mid-pipe.

I'm getting a delete done soon and thinking about purchasing new sensors while all this work is being done.

The original 2 widebands and 3 egt sensors are re-used.

first, the car produces 0 drone. sounds INCREDIBLE. not loud in the cab, but turbo is absolutely noticeable windows up.

smells like a bus, but hey... these are diesels aren't they?
