Then that would lead me to believe you should be able to get a larger discount when buying a more fuel efficient vehicle versus one that is not. I'm sure hybrids are not selling well right now, and diesels should be in the same boat. But fuel prices won't stay low forever. I love it when I read in the news that people in the know state we'll never see $100 oil again. Once everyone starts saying and believing something won't happen, it will.

Right now, dollar for dollar, a gasoline vehicle will be cheaper...... :(
Fortunately those cars aren't cars I want to drive and none of them offer the kick of a turbo. I'll keep driving my DIESEL vehicles.

I saw Shell diesel at $2.89 this afternoon! That's fallen a lot in the past couple of weeks.

I paid $2.85 yesterday in Burns Harbor, Indiana. The highest I've seen in northwest Indiana is about $3.06.

Paid $3.199 at the Shell around the corner Tuesday morning. At a no-name convenience store just south of me, it was $3.099 Tuesday afternoon (but I would not chance buying there).

I owned a diesel Jetta from 2000 to about 2004 in New Hampshire. I had it for about 70k miles and my lifetime average was 46mpg. In the "good old days" diesel was usually a nickle more than regular in the winter months and a nicker cheaper in the summer months. Today I saw regular gas for $2.02 in north metro GA and the same station had diesel for $3.00. Seems a little crazy, I cant remember the last time I saw diesel cheaper than regular gas. :(

Up here gas is anywhere from .79 to .85 a litre and diesel is 1.06 a litre at the moment.

(Ontario gas prices, a lot higher in Quebec and a lot lower out West)

It quite possibly could be the lowest price diesel in the entire USA, some of us locals are wondering if they are sneaking in tax free B20 and not posting the stickers on the pumps. I put a jar of it in the freezer at -10F and it only had a slight haze develop with zero separation. SO, im pack rat'n 30 gallons at a time into my 500 Gallon tank at home for cheap driving threw this summer. Biocide added and 2 micron filtered of course :D

That would depend on your definition of "out west". Mainly Alberta has really cheap gas, but BC not so much, and especially not in Vancouver/GVRD. Ontario has pretty reasonable gas prices overall compared to the rest on Canada.

RUG seems to have stopped falling where I live, now hovering just below to just over $2/gallon with a range of .10 - .12 cent from station to station. With the MLK weekend, pricing may have stabilized so let's see if it drops more after that. Diesel was $2.649, and it has a wider range going up over $3.25 at some stations. I never see any cars or trucks filling up at the higher priced stations, even thought their RUG's are competitive. You have to wonder how long their diesel fuel has been in their tanks now.....
