Hello all. Recently check engine light came on . Ran scan with dss and got a DPF code ..I cant rememebr, 8061 i believe. My question , does this mean buy new one or is there a way to perform maintenance on these? Ideas, suggestions, experiences , comments appreciated. Thanks

No maintenance on DPF once they are clogged or full. Some have had them cut open and cleaned, but they are fragile inside and usually break before filling. Really need the codes it set to tell anything.

Thanks. The soot and ash levels per dss scanner are very low. I cleared the check engine and has not come on anymore. Just did an oil change per "service due now" . Noticed oil leak in injector wells and around valve cover torx screws. Gone start another thread for that . Will keep an eye on the DPF.

I still have oil leaking out the back of valve cover and will be replacing it.

Any ideas, suggestions, experiences with the DPF code greatly appreciated. From what i gather , this things supposed to auto re-generate to keep themselves clean, but that is not happening..? Mileage is at 131,500. Thanks again.

There are just too many to list....
Check the exhaust pressure sensor, and its connections. There could be a leak or a blockage in the tube/hose. That's what the ECU uses to determine DPF status.

Thanks for suggestion. Found a video mentions replacing that sensor but for diiferent fault code. I see the sensor is located behind valve cover, where some of this oil that is leaking out the rear of cover may be falling . Could it be possible the oil on the sensor is causing this fault?

I think Oilhammer is referring to a different sensor, its right under the engine cover, up high, passenger side, two tubes coming out of it. Blow out those tubes first. I had an obstruction in one a few years ago. Do some searching here for the P2459 code - some threads on that common fault. You may need to replace that sensor, which is what I did.

I just deleted my 2014 passat. I have every connector and sensor and tube and clamp you could need. I’ll even sell you the full system if you want. PM me.

Well new sensor did not help. Did force regen and no help either. I reset code and after about 40 miles engine light back on again. So, regeneration frequency means it's regenerating too frequently? I'm not sure what to do next. Ideas, suggestions, experience?

Ok. Reading other posts I guess with new sensor there's an adaptation needed. How do I go about I t doing that with vcds?

I’d consider deleting the car if your area allows.

Lol...spoke too soon. Engine light back on at 120 miles. Somethings happened though that it lasted more miles before coming on.

Do you have VAG DPF to monitor the regens?
A while back I had issues with the DPF where it wouldn’t regen at all….

Blew air thru hoses. Pur back old dpf sensor. Gave me 250 miles before engine light came back on. So, there are two of these sensors in system??

yup one pre and one post, both compare system pressure to ambient to get the delta across the DPF to verify how sooted up it is and possibly force a regen inside the mileage threshold.

Geez. Had not realized that. So, the one I been replacing, one up top, may be good, and the other one , have no idea where it's at yet, may be the one needing replacement.

On the 2012-2014 Passat, one of the sensor is next to the coolant bottle and the other is between the DPF and the Engine.

Thanks. I have been replacing the one by coolant bottle. I will locate other one this weekend. So when performing the adaptation process with vcds after replacing sensor , do we specify on vcds which sensor we replaced , or whichever one is replaced is automatically the one to to be adapted when doing adaptation process?
