Diesel @ $2.60 and Regular @ $1.40 per gallon.

The spread is getting worse. How long can this continue? Why isn't this on the news? Most everything is transported by diesel so that additional cost is being passed on to the consumer. Gasoline is quite responsive to the price of oil whereas diesel has not been. I remember when diesel was always cheaper than gasoline. Very frustrating.

Gasoline demand crashed much further than diesel demand. I wouldn't worry about the spread, diesel is still pretty cheap.

Here in Massachusetts the price spread is about the same as always, maybe a bit less. RUG is around $2.00 most places, and D2 is $2.49-$2.69. A $0.60/gal spread is typical in recent years.

What I have noticed is prices for 91 octane premium unleaded has not fallen nearly as fast as RUG. I still see prices approaching $3.00, where usually premium is about the same price as D2.

Perhaps the sales volume of 91 octane being lower has something to do with it?

Compared to whisky, sure, but compared to gas? I don't understand unless you are comparing prices on other continents?
Compared to California and Canada it's cheap- same continent. But I just meant in terms of btu's or joules. We pay very little for fossil energy, which promotes inefficient/wasteful vehicles and other usage. I understand the interest in gas vs. diesel cost though. Gasoline demand has already bottomed out and is starting to rebound- the ultra cheap gas won't last for long, imo.

One station by the house has diesel for $1.39, .39 more than rug. Then right down the road the spread is .70 with higher prices.

I don't try to make sense of it.

It seems like gas is going up and diesel is coming down.
Jet fuel is close to diesel so is fuel oil.
Fewer jets in the air and the warmer weather means less fuel oil being used.
I wonder if it will lead to a glut in diesel.

I think we'll equalize about .20 below where it was before the virus pandemic pandering. Stupid reality that it was kicking through the world at least two months before we heard about it.

Don't like it here? Go to the UK or Ausi land or anywhere else in the 1st world nations and diesel prices is about twice to 4 times greater than it is here.

There are just too many to list....
I never pay much attention to it, simply because I do not use that much of it... but I did notice this morning that diesel was only about 35 cents higher per gallon that regular gasoline. This was at a Circle K.

Regular 87 octane (10-15% ethanol) is $1.699 locally (lower in other communities) and diesel varies but can be had for $1.999/gallon.
Typically in my local area the gas vs diesel spread is about $.60/gallon. Fluctuates with seasonal demand(s).
Makes little sense to compare fuel prices to other countries where tax rate/systems are totally different and support much of the government/services.

Ahh, but remember that we're spoiled and take such low prices for granted. Yes our tax dollars subsidize fuel prices, however, we're in an extreme deficit in part because of it.
That's the reason to compare, to remember when we don't like it that others have it far worse

Costco by my house has diesel and regular priced the same at $1.89/gal. Diesel is generally cheaper than gas at Costco but out in town about $0.60/gal more. What sucks is if you go at the wrong time, even though there are 24 pumps, the wait can be long due to all the gasser vehicles saving $0.05/gal versus the top tier station down the road.

Costco diesel is top tier which supposedly has higher lubricity and detergents. Plus it's significantly cheaper than out in town so I'm willing to fill my car early in the morning or late at night when the warehouse is not open.

Also has a lot to do with local taxes on diesel. QT down the street from me has diesel at 1.98 and regular unleaded at 1.39.

In my neck of the woods in Southeast Kentucky, away from the Interstate, both gasoline and diesel fuel are cheaper... and the spread is far more now than it was three months ago, hanging around $1.00 gallon difference.

True, I've had the good fortune to visit both. Great time and wonderful people and gasoline was very expensive when filling up my rental Skoda and Holden. However neither country was leading the world in petroleum production nor in the refining of same.

Pricing north of the border doesn't seem to make much sense.

Drove 200km yesterday and saw no more than 3c/l variation in RUG, meanwhile D2 ranged from 10c/l less than RUG all the way up to 15c/l more.

Simple case of supply and demand. Diesel (low Sulphur) will always be in demand due to trucking so...stations can charge more for it—and so can refineries. All commercial products cost more then your run of the mill household items—petroleum based fuels are no different.
