Hot new wheels!!

The most popular question (besides who are you?) is: What's with the 2 valve stems?

David... those are great looking wheels, but we were discussing the dual valve stems on them. I've seen that on off-road tires that are subject to frequent inflation/deflation depending on the conditions so pressure can be monitored in realtime duing adjustments, but I've never seen them on a street tire before. Is it for the same purpose, or do you have a secret weapon in there?

EDIT: Beat me by one minute, Riley. GMTA! LOL!

David, thanks for hosting. I had a good time and it was good to meet everyone and put a face to the names. Looking forward to the next one. BTW, I'll say it again. This was a better turnout than my Passatworld GTG. Wonder if those can be combined to one big mondo GTG? Oh wait, then it would be a VW show. Ha-ha!

Great Meeting

David:

Thanks for having all of us and going to the trouble in having all of us at your place. Hope you can do it again. I just need to find a better way to get home as I got caught in traffic on 183 for a while. It was great to be able to put faces with some of the names.

I know I certainly enjoyed meeting with fellow club members from the area. It was great to see such a variety of TDI's as well. Too bad Kevin never made it back with the TD Corrado. I'll have to go bother him for a ride. I too think we should do this again sometime soon. The holiday season might be tough, but we should definitely try to start, say, a bi-monthly GTG for 2011. Once again, it was great to see the folks I know and make some new friends at the same time. Thanks to David for being such a gracious host, even though he was working hard to get those purty wheels on. Hope to see you all again soon!

Riley: Thanks for the compliment, but that wasn't my bug.......Mine is still in the driveway partially crippled with an inprocess alternator replacement. It should be back on the road this week barring weather delays.

So who's bug was that?
Guess#2: You can air up the tire twice as fast.
Guess#3" Be prepared. Always have a backup valve stem in case the other one fails.

Had a good time,Thanks david.Sorry I had to leave before you got finished with the front end.Looks good.I got about half way home and remembered my chair was still there so I guess I have a good excuse to come back.
Yep, your chair is sitting in the shop. Let me know when you are going to be in the area and you can pick it up.

Overall, everyone seems like they had a good time, that's good. I took the Jetta for a spin tonight and everything is nice and tight now. I haven't had that feeling at all since I've owned the car. There has always been something loose up front. All it takes is wheels, tires, TT bushings, LCA front bushings, tie rods ends, ball joints, strut bearings, and new coilovers to chase down whatever was loose . Alignment will happen tomorrow. Rolling the front fenders sometime this week.

You know I think I found out what the purpose of the double valve stem is. It is supposed to make it easier to fill Nitrogen and purge the air at the same time so you can get close to pure Nitrogen in the tires. Though I think some of the ideas I have heard are more entertaining.

David, those wheels look great! Now just lift the front end an inch and a half and you can have the authentic Shine look like my Golf has. :/
