DFW GTG Fall 2010

We haven't had a GTG lately up here. I have been strolling through the other regions, and there are tons of GTG's going on. Well, why not us too.

Who wants to have a GTG? when? and where?

If we're going to do it, lets get going before the holidays fill our schedules.

EDIT: Everyone is invited to join the Fort Worth Volksfolks GTG on 11/6/10. Information here.

For those that prefer not to join for whatever reason, I am hosting a gtg on 11/13/10 at my shop. The address is:

1932 Highland Springs Dr. Haslet, Tx 76052

Brings your favorite chips, drinks, snack, etc... I'll burn some burgers and dogs. BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair)

Working on cars is fine I have room and tools for that. If its any heavy work: timing belt, suspension, etc. speak up because I don't have all those tools. I like performance more than maintenance tasks therefore I don't have some of those specialty tools.

Shop doors will open at 8:00am.

David what do you thing about this bad boy in your car after you finish you car to 300hp?
Only you can't have glow plug , the led is blocked. It will work ,only no light. I am sure it will pass 140mph after you apply all power to it and RPM will need to be extend.
Plus it is MFA.
I have own this one!!!!

I am game as well, what activity if any do we plan if any? I am off though only every other weekend. We can meet at my place as well if needed. I am off October 9th, 23rd, November 6th and 20th. Any one of those weekends will work for me.

Hell, I'll go, sounds like fun, and an entertaining road trip to boot! Any weekend in November works for me. Just be ready to show off some of your best roads out there for a cruise too.

Yeah that would look good in the Jetta .

I'm unsure of something to do other than GTG and work on stuff if need be. We can all bring food and grill out at my shop if nothing else. I should have it studded and wired in the next couple weeks. 10-15 cars would fit in the shop and driveway.

I'm pretty hard commited on 8 October to the Texas Antique Airplane Fly In, so most any other weekend is ok with me.

Also, I goofed....I'm planning on Saturday up there and not on Friday. Working 3rd shift screws with my mental calender so bad that I have to look at the one in my phone before I can be sure what day it is, or look at the newspaper.........Just wish that I had either of my airplanes flayble and able to go up there.

Definately! I was planning on mailing my ECU to Mark while I was gone to Mexico, but if you'll be at the GTG I'd have my JSW and I'd probably bring my dad's Golf ECU along for a good flashing.

ToeBall, meant to reply sooner to your first post. No I will not be able to bench flash tunes. 2000-2006 model TDI's and can tune via the OBD port, and 1996-1999.5 I can tune by simply swapping out the the chips. 2009-2011 I do not have the equipment yet to do tunes, not enough demand as of right now for me to warrant spending the money to buy new equipment. So you would still need to mail your ECU directly to Malone Tuning to have your JSW tuned.

Bench tune

Wait, about the tuning. Can you do bench tunes at a GTG?

I can do a bench tune. What year is your car? Never mind I see you have a 2010. If it was an earlier model 2000-2003 I have an adaptor I can plug directly into the ecm. I will be able to do tunes for anyone else other than common rail cars. Again only 2000-2003 can I bench tune all others I need the car in person.

OK, let's try to lock in a day....I'm starting with 11/6 (Saturday). Steve Glover has that day off and he can do tunes..... I am back from three weeks on the road that week.

I'm going to try and make this one if I can. Most of my weekends are pretty free. One suggestion however. If we can get TDIinTexas to keep the first post on here updated with time, date and location info, it will make it lots easier to find the information if this thread gets too big.

Have we nailed down a place for this yet? Brian Hauge (alphaseinor) has a very nice new shop up in Frisco, just north of The Colony. I don't want to speak for him, but he said he might be interested in hosting. He's got a nice shop bay in a brand new building, waiting room/office and plenty of parking. Might be a good way to break in his new business.
