I got my passat last week, and just noticed today a dent on all for sides of the rocker panel in the exact same place. I immediately assumed the dealer dented them when checking over the car before I took delivery. I didnt notice them when I picked the car up cuz the are on the very bottom and I noticed them today when cleaning car. Anyway i called the dealer and they said those are supposed to be there as a marker to show people where to jack the car and that VW has been doing it for years. I have an 04 golf tdi and it doesn't have them on it. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed these on their passat and if it's normal or is the dealer bs-ing me. Dealer is 100 miles away so I can't just stop in and look at another passat.

Normal. You might notice, if you measure, that both the front and both the rear are the same distance from the wheel well. Dealer damage? Not this time.

my 2010 jetta has them as well, easy to feel and toss the jack under that spot.

Normal - it is the location for the jack - not on the rocker, but the crimped metal behind the rocker... if that makes any sense...

Take a look in your owners manual for jack-point, or tire changes...
