Do any of you Southern California folks have a supplier for Delvac I and Stanadyne products? According to Mobil's website the only place I can find Delvac I is in LeBec (wherever that is. Stanadyne doesn't provide dealer information that I can find.

Thanks!

Steve,

Believe it or not I actually went out to that truck stop (PETRO) and bought some Delvac at $26.99 per gallon. It's past the grapevine and near the CHP station before the 99 and 5 split.

I tried to open an account at Empire Oil in Bloomington (Riverside County I think), but haven't heard anything yet. If I get no response, I'm going to try Southern Counties Oil in Orange. They have a website.

Thanks, First D! Aftet I get the car, I'll go buy the Delvac I there.

BTW...for all you fuel experts....I've been looking at Diesel prices at various stations, and the closest station for me is a Texaco at $1.38/gal. I think I saw something about Texaco diesel on a thread that wasn't too complimentary....so here's the question: If I add Stanadyne Lubricity and the fuel treatments will that make up for a less than perfect diesel fuel?

What about Arco diesel? I seem to remember a post about them having a "cleaner" diesel, ie: lower sulpher or higher cetane.

You guys are a great help!

Hi Steve - I fill up at the Texaco on Tapo/Los Angeles regularly and haven't had any problems with the fuel quality. I also use Amsoil diesel modifier, reduces the smoke significantly going up the hill on 118

You should not have any trouble with Texaco diesel in southern Calif. All the diesel here is low sulfer high cetain good stuff.
I live in Valencia and fill up at Texaco by Magic mountain exit its 1.24/Gal right now.
Texaco is all I use. Bugger

You need to just poke around a bit and keep your eyes open for cheap diesel stations. Pricing patterns are not the same as regular gas, I have a corner near my work where one station is selling diesel for 40 cents more than the other. Or just buy some in Frazier Park at the Flying J (1.21) on the way back from PETRO! They actually have premium diesel too, the only place I've seen that so far.

P.S. If you do go to PETRO, remember you have to go to the TRUCK portion of the complex, not the car portion...

Wow a TDI in Simi. I grew up in Simi.
Since I picked up my TDI in Dec. I've only seen two TDI's. A black Jetta at Burbank Media center and a white Jetta on the 118 freeway near Balboa.

As for Delvac 1 in Lebec. Lebec is Flying J in Frazier Park. I went there last week because Mobil said they sell it there. When I got there they only had the 1300 and not Delvec 1. I even walked across the lot to the service bays and asked if they had any Synthetic and the attendant just laughed.

As for fuel I've been buying at 76 in Sun Valley for $1.25 and Arco in Oxnard for $1.23. I've seen two stations in Filmore for $1.27 the last week. Can you tell I drive alot?

WoW, I just found Delvac 1 in Sylmar!!!
Call Topanga Oil (818) 364 9466. You have to by it by the case (4 gal)@ $80.76.

I tend to go through Simi at least once a week. If you want to split a case I can bring it by.

Gedster, the place selling Delvac 1 in Lebec (as listed in the Mobil website) refers to the PETRO stop past the big CHP station past the grapevine (5 miles past the hill). Apparently Lebec is a bigger town than we think!

Did you have to get an account with Topanga Oil or can you just walk up and buy some? I'd buy a case if I can...

CHEAP DIESEL ALERT!

I was cruising my old stomping grounds and passed buy a Chevron station on Vermont right next to the Hollywood Freeway (101) that was selling diesel for 1.21 per gallon.

Does Topanga Oil have a website, I might try to go over there if I'm in the area.

Topanga oil told me I can buy with out an account. I just have to call ahead so they can fill out the order. I'll will be treated as a cash customer. I will call on monday and make arrangements to pick up a case. I'll let you know what happens. I will mention that they may get a slight demand increase from other TDI owners. Maybe I can arrange a group buy price.

I just picked up my Delvac 1 from Topanga oil today. It's no problem for anyone to go down and buy a case of Delvac 1 for $80.76 per case as long as you call and place the order first and pay cash. They are willing to work on the price a little if we get a 10 case order.

If you go down keep in mind they are behind the PolyFlo building. Pull into the PolyFlo parking lot and drive to the back. Look for the drums and 250 gal totes of ATF. You can't miss them.

Topanga Oil, fantastic. Last Delvac 1 I scored was between La Quinta and Indio. What a relief.

For cheap diesel, try the Arco at Van Nuys Blvd. north of Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks. Lowest price in the San Fernando Valley.

Glad I caught this thread before it died. Cheers to SoCal TDIs.

Bringing an old thread back from the dead because this is the best one I could find by searching.

I'm looking for a local source for Stanadyne specifically, the Topanga Oil listed above has apparently been bought out by a competitor in the >10 years sinnce the last post on this thread. The new company does not appear to have a location anywhere near me.

I actually found Stanadyne at one of the local Autozones, although other stores in this area don't have it.
