Hello,
I'm sure there's been a million delete questions and I'm not searching nearly well enough. For that, I apologize. I have a relatively specific question. I'm currently planning on a delete and my initial plan was to keep my EGR intact and run Malone's dynamic EGR. Upon performing more research, I've discovered that the low pressure EGR is going to be deleted with almost any delete kit I use, thus no exhaust gases into the EGR cooler. Dynamic EGR doesn't help me too much, then, correct? I do want to keep the anti-shudder valve, as I have a constant nagging concern of the typical CKRA turbo failure and want some level of safety against a runaway. If I do a DPF/Cat delete, I.E Profidiesel cat dpi delete 2.0tdi 2.0 tdi cr140 cjaa golf this one, what else would I need to do beside a tune? Will I need EGR blanking plates or a full EGR delete kit? Prior to the discovery of the low pressure EGR being deleted at the same time as the downpipe, my intent was:

DPF/Cat delete into straight pipe
DPF delete tune (added onto stage 2, already have a stage 2 with emissions intact)

Well I would delete the High Side EGR as well. With the EGR it will only create more soot, polish the cylinders with crap.

I got better FE and my car didn't need to regen as often.

I got some information from Darkside today that makes this a bit easier to tell what's going on. Definitely racking up the price now.... Can anyone attest to the difficulty or sound of a gutted DPF?

There are just too many to list....
The ONLY thing you need to mess with physically with the EGR is a block off plate on the cooler where the pipe from the DPF came from (low pressure). The regular (high pressure) EGR hardware just remains where it is, and won't work anymore... just along for the ride. Won't hurt anything, but if you want to you can remove the pipe that makes the oil filter a pain to R&R, but you'll need two more block off plates (technically only one, since the valve itself will remain closed, but over time some weepage can occur, so I'd block it off if you remove the pipe).

So long as you keep the muffler, there won't be a dramatic increase in sound from the exhaust. Most people would barely notice the difference. A straight pipe (no muffler) is for sure louder, and while it may sound neat at first it will get a bit old after a while.

Gotcha, I'm slowly piecing it together. I'm looking for sound, I do like a semi-loud exhaust as long as it sounds good. My intent is to run a straight pipe and add a resonator if it's too much. My concern if I were to go the gutting route, it would be super droney due to a giant can.

I should add.... I'd like to bypass the EGR cooler, as well. Just to eliminate the risk it has. I've read of the failures causing coolant in the intake. I suppose this could be driven by the heat of the exhaust and it's a non-issue without that heat? Wouldn't hurt to bypass it anyway.

I have that exact exhaust kit, I have not installed it yet and you will need a low side EGR plate.

I just did a Malone stage 2 and Rawtek delete. If deleting the dpf you may want to get a new turbo v-band clamp. My bolt was seized and I had to cut it off with a dremel. I was able to cobble something together using parts from the exhaust flap v- bands until I sourced a new one. Also the last exhaust band clamp needed new nuts and bolts. I had to dremel off one of the three bolts on the down pipe flange.

With the stock muffler it’s just a little louder than stock. Butt dyno approves.

I'll be deleting the DPF for sure, I'll look into a new V-Band. My current intent is DPF/cats delete, EGR delete with a cooler bypass. I'm hoping to pull the cooler off too but if I don't end up with all the block-offs necessary to do so, so be it. Just trying to do it in the cheapest way possible now. It looks like gutting the DPF would be the cheapest, obviously, but would require me to drop the subframe to finangle it back in there. I have no desire to do that. I'd rather spend the money and use a downpipe. Currently the plan is to go with a profidiesel downpipe, flashzilla and re-tune for delete. EGR delete is what I'm hunting now. I did just find an aliexpress egr delete kit that looks to be the same parts as most other delete kits and I'm half tempted to order it and see how bad it is. $30 after shipping, not much to lose for the possibility of saving $120. It doesn't appear to come with the EGR cooler bypass but I think I'll just need a barbed fitting for that. Just need to find the hose diameter. https://www.aliexpress.com/i/3256803117394931.html?gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt

I did not need to drop my subframe, just did the dis-assembly as instructed. When it came time to drop the dpf, I rotated it as directed and had a medium ball peen hammer ready to persuade the foil heat shield as needed. 5 or 6 hits let the bracket clear and dpf drop out. 5 minutes max and I hope yours goes as easily. Good luck, John

In my CJAA it was not that easy. After sweating, swearing and getting frustrated, I ended up cutting the DPF with a sawzall and then it was a piece of cake. I was unwilling to drop the subframe, and since the DPF was cracked it was going to be scrapped anyways.

I do not expect to need the drop the subframe to pull it, but if I wanted to gut it and reuse, I would probably need to. I ordered the aliexpress egr kit today so we’ll see what that brings.

Yea, need to do Timing belt, Flywheel, and now turbo. I figure having the engine out to do everything and it would be easy to remove the DPF.
Very true, with many things, might as well. I still haven’t determined if the sound I have is flywheel or AC related. Slight clatter when AC is on at idle only.

I have his exhaust kit, it's very nice but about to install it very soon. So time will tell on the install.

The only gripe is customs "Lost" the clamps but $40 on amazon isn't a deal breaker.

Thanks, did you chose economy shipping? How long did it take? Looks like you are somewhere in the desert too 😀
