What can one do with a DEALER LOYALTY CARD that hasn't been used and there's nothing I want from VW? Can I give it to a relative that has a VW - but not a diesel.

You can use it at the dealer for anything you want. In my case our dealer owns a high performance shop so I bought tires and they ran it through dealers machine

Then throw it away, or it give it to someone. There has to be something you need. It doesn't have to be for your car.

All I've bought off it was a set of windshield wipers.... how much would you give me for it?

The driver gear site sells plenty of other items...bikes, Oakleys, etc. You could buy 5 pair of Oakleys and then sell them elsewhere.

http://www.drivergear.vw.com/

Plus they give you 20% off first order, so it'd be like having $600 to spend.

Anyone try and use it at a collision/body shop that is part of dealership where there is a vw/audi dealership?
Need a bumper painted/replaced on my gasser gti and have an audi loyalty card for our a3 tdi.

So does that site accept the VW-only card? Or can the stuff be ordered via a local dealer? Most of the stuff is massively overpriced, but if VW's paying the tab, I could probably come up with $500 of purchases from there that wouldn't go to waste.

My VW dealer has a body shop. Last spring I backed into a car on the street parked behind my driveway. My insurance covered the liability to the parked car and I used the the card to cover the 500.00 deductible for the repairs to my bumper and tail lights. Insurance paid the rest. No questions asked by the VW dealer owned body repair shop.

I believe, as far as the dealer is concerned, it is no different than any other debit card.

I have used mine, at VW dealers, to pay for straightening of a wheel that they sent out to a wheel specialist, annual state vehicle inspection, and other miscellaneous service. When they process it for payment, I don't think they report to VW what it is you purchased.

I tried to buy toyota parts at one dealer (combo dealership). Same parts counter but the counter guy refused saying it needs to be used for volkswagen parts only. I think he was just a really lazy guy.

Has anyone tried using the dealer card as a regular Visa online, somewhere besides an authorized dealer (or other vendor that's 'supposed' to accept the dealer cards), by using the first 16 digits on the back as the 'credit card' # and the last 3 as the security code?

When I picked up my loyalty cards, I immediately used it to buy some parts (wiper blades, etc.). The service guy wasn't sure how to run it through the system, and was eventually told by his manager "just run it through like a regular Visa"...which worked.

Hmm, interesting. So that means I could potentially buy tires through Tirerack with it instead of having to go to the dealer. Good information, I will have to try a small purchase and see if it works.

I tried to buy a bunch of items from www.drivergear.vw.com and got email the next day saying they couldn't process my form of payment, which was the loyalty card.

I was planning to use it on driver gear as well, bummer. I may try a test sale to see what happens. If that fails, I'll just go get 5 of those roadside assistance kits and give them as gifts this winter.

My dealer matched Tirerack price for two new rear tires for our Corvette, while our 2012 Jetta sets in the garage waiting buyback. Mounted and balanced them out the door price charged to the dealer card.

This solves your problem, http://www.drivergear.vw.com/Produc...tm_content=VWDriverGear&utm_campaign=July2016

You can get rid of your plastic card in one swipe. If you sign up now, you get 20% off your first order.

But with all the "stir" that VW has caused, not sure many people will want to be walking around in tree hugger states like California with a VW insignia on their jacket. Could be like walking around with a Tennessee Battle Flag on your chest in downtown Detroit. Just a little frowned upon.

Californians have glorified the VW brand since the 60's.
Sorry to burst your fantasy bubble and please don't choke on your kool-aid but
we like our TDI's here even if we dose them with a bit of veg oil from time to time.
It sounds like you have bought in to the 'us vs. them' mentality but clean air is on
everyone's agenda now. We had the worst air and so we acted first.
The results speak for themselves. I can see distant mountains that were once obscured
by a dense orange haze, and this is with 3x to 4x the vehicle miles being driven.
It's not an opinion or a political view, it is science.
