Dead Bluetooth on a 2010 Jetta

So about 2 weeks ago my phone stopped connecting to bluetooth. When I press the button to start a voice command, it doesn't do anything. Tried another phone and can't detect the car via bluetooth either :(

I thought maybe the module was hozed, so I bought a 9W7 module (to replace my US spec TDIs 9W3) and hoped by plugging in the replacement module all would be good.

Turns out I was wrong, and no change occured when I plugged in the new module.

Any other ideas? Anyone in Ontario that is good with this stuff so I don't spend a mint with a dealer to find out its some loose wire or a blown fuse.

Thanks!!

Thanks sandmansans. That is a good idea.

The bad is I don't have one. The good is I am confident I can find someone (and have found someone).

Can you give me some ideas on what to look for? I'm pretty inexperienced having never used one and the guy that is willing to scan me doesn't know what he is looking for either. Would certainly appreciate any insight someone that has a lot more experience than us put together!

TIA

Just do an auto scan and it should show you any errors. Of not, open up the module and run manually.

Here is a walk through on how to do it and a basic overview. When you run the scan, post it on here. Can take a look them

Fortunately a very nice member locally was able to scan it. It sounds like it's not the module but it's not even reaching it. Any ideas?

In the end it was a dead bluetooth module. I was a little nervous as my BT failed, and bought a 9w7 on ebay to replace it and it didn't work either and worried that it was something else that had broken. I went and bought a 2nd 9w7 (i don't learn clearly!) but fortunately the seller was local so we had agreed before the listing ended that we could meet up instead of shipping. That one worked perfectly well, sent the other back to the ebay seller at $17 for my cost to send it back to the US, but I got my money back and BT is back online and better than ever.

I can't imagine the dealer would have charged me only $150 CDN to fix it.
