dead battery on remote?

My remote will not unlock the car. The locking button on the remote works. The unlocking the trunk on the remote works as well. For some reason, the unlock button doesn't work.

I checked the battery voltage on the remote. It says 3.0/2.99 volts. This is when there is no load on the battery. I'm not sure what the voltage is supposed to be on a new battery.

So, any suggestions? Should I replace the battery anyways? Is the unlock button busted?

My spare remote works fine. On the spare, the unlock doors, lock doors, unlock trunk buttons work fine.

Argh.

They are pretty cheap to replace, so why not start there?
Here is a post with a link to a 'how to'

Why don't you swap the circuit board piece of the key (comes apart to three pieces) between the keys? This would narrow down to a circuit problem or a physical push button problem.
