Hey all! The weather is crap, economy is crap, and I'm getting tired of curling on every day on the TV. Let's have a GTG!!! This will make DCOTC #11. (Or Dead Center of the Country)

Average attendance is between 15 and 30 at a nicely equipped shop in Kansas City, KS. 8334 Ruby, Kansas City, KS 66111
Here is a map to the Judy Co.

We will be having the GTG on April 10th and 11th. Hopefully the weather will be awesome!!!

We should start each day around 8:30. If you have work to be done, please arrive in a timely manner as to "attempt" to get everything done. If things don't get done in one day, I'm OK with it, but we can always try, right?

I learned from the last few GTGs that to underplan is better for my soul than to overplan, so, I will not be asking for a google doc spreadsheet of work to be done. Please mention what you want to do in this thread and make sure you have someone to help you (if you need it) lined up before you come out.

If no one wants to bring anything to eat, or has any special ideas, we will just do pizza from Papa Johns again. As always beer is always appreciated, especially if you are coming from out of town and happen to pick up some exotic brews from your hometown.

I like to ask for a $5 donation to the shop and a $5 chip in for food.

For me, it looks like the April 3-4 date looks the best. Although, not being a sports guy, I feel that the Final Four could interfere.

I'd lean more to mid-late April. But I haven't had a decent day trip road run for a bit now.

Hehe, its only like 8 turns and 500 miles for me. Bring down some MN beer.

Sorry count me out intil futher notice because I am working the weekends for now. With this new job and all Might be able to do a shift swap with another person's shift to swap out a day for Saturday. But honesty don't know if my Team Manager would let me. I would love to come. If anyone needs Vag-com I could and would meet somewhere to give you it to use for GTG if I cannot make it. If I come is anyone needing a oil change? I do have a oil extactor that someone can use.

Sorry, Richard... don't really understand your question. If you don't want to burn up time at the GTG, we can schedule another time for the timing belt job.

PLEASE not the 17th that is Earth Day Omaha, for which I am on the Board of Directors.

Reading other people's posts, it looks like April 10th would be the best day. That works great for me, I'm going to pencil that into my Google Calendar (they should really include a "digital pencil" option) and plan on attending.

Thanks as always for putting things together Mikey.

To many acronyms? All I'm saying is I've done 2 PD timing belts.

But this GTG is a definate maybe for me, no matter what day it falls on, due to the fact that if I have work, I'll have to give it priority.

Hey Ben, any chance you can bring the key cutting and programming eqipment up with you or is it too big to bring along?

i like the idea of April 10-11 as well. If that is cool with everyone, I will go ahead and call it. I'll give everyone a day or so before it is concrete. I will also call Judy Co and make sure it is OK with them. Otherwise, we may need to see if Coolair wants to host at his shop.

Hey, Ben.

If you do bring equipment how much would you charge to pull my key code? For future use.

Alright! I talked to Judy co today and they are cool with April 10th and 11th as the day of our GTG. SO, I will copy and paste the first post and make it look pretty. Do we want to try and advertise a little and get some more folks out this year, or are we OK with our usual 15 or so people and about 3-4 projects?

I was just thinking of making few quick flyers and maybe taking them to our favorite VW shops and handing them out to fellow TDI drivers that may not know about the club or our GTGs.

None now.
Will be there.

Weekend of March 27/28 and April 10/11 would work for me. I would love to meet all of you guys. I have never been to any of these get-together. It it happens on April 3/4 weekend I can manage that as well.

I would like to replace brakes/rotors on my A5 Jetta (2006), with your guidance. I am not sure what all the tools are required, heard I need something special to pull the rotors? I am still on my original rotors and pads. I want to replace them before I hand-over the Jetta to my daughter, by the end of this year/early part of next year.

I have not ordered the parts yet. Will do it pretty soon here. Love the longevity of the OEM pads and rotors, and I am trying to stick to those. If there are any TDI guru's who want to take on the job, I am glad to pay them.

I will bring my VAG-COM cable and a laptop also. Any input on what brand parts/where to get is welcome.

I am going to buy parts for all 4, but not decided on replacing all 4 at this point. The brakes are not squealing yet, just little bit more travel than initial. Just the fact that it is at 133k already, and definitely before I start teaching my daughter to drive, I would like to have new ones. At least the rear ones for sure.

Fronts wear faster, you should do those and inspect the rears. I looked at bora's price for OEM shoes and I about jumped out of my pants!
