I am also fine with a noon start.

A 2003 Eddie Excursion 6.0? I was hunting for one of those before I got the Touareg. Very nice truck! I won't be upset if you show up in it.
Lawson,

We just lucked out and a friend of a friend was selling it. We picked it up with 195K on the odometer for a price I just couldn't pass up. We've taken it to Snowshoe a couple of times this year and were able to get 17 MPG. Not bad for a 4 ton vehicle, especially with the ski rack, and the 2 lane winding and hilly roads in WV. The Jeep is great, but much like the Touareg, there just isn't enough room in it.

I was strongly considering going from my F350 to an Excursion, but the V10 lured me like the song of the sirens.... hopefully it doesn't bankrupt me. ;)

All,

As much as I'm dying to do my first road trip in the Mk6, the afternoon drive back is just too risky for my tastes. Sure, *I* can drive in the snow. I'm worried about everyone else using my rear bumper as brakes. ;) Maybe next time.

Google Maps says just under an hour to get there, so I'll figure two with the snow.

I'm going to have to respectfully decline.

I wanted too, real bad. But I have to get the sticky vanes fixed before a 4 hour road trip Sunday.

Hopefully I can catch the next. Safe travels for the rest of you!

50 is typically pretty tame on the weekends. They have salted the heck out of most of the roads so with temps going a good bit higher then they have been this week I don't think the roads will be too bad. I don't think they'll get really bad until much later in the afternoon/early evening.

If we get 12", I'll drive the Dodge; else I'll bring the Golf (I need to try out the snow's).

Route 50 is fine. I drive it daily. The only time it can be a pain is heading East towards the Bay Bridge near Annapolis in the summer when you can get some pretty hefty back-ups. No issues for today (barring any snow related incidents).

I plan to be there, absent a big change in weather.

Still on for noon. I'll be leaving the house in about 20-30 minutes.

Just got here. Looks like Jason and I are the only ones so far.

Smooth sailing on route 50 - no accumulation and no accidents. The east side of the beltway was okay but WTOP said everything on the west side including 66 and 270 was screwed up.
