Best I can do for now on the quality. First watercooled VW for me. Took the TDI and this forum to make that happen. Maybe a good dig camera for Christmas and I'll update.

That's the '62. Located for me by Lenny at West Coast Classics. It's completely stock, so I get to feel the 38 years of progress every time I switch vehicles. BTW, the '62 has more headroom!

It will be a while before the TDI catches up in the cost per mile race. Now, if I can just find somebody I can trust to paint the '68 properly.....

carolinagolf, maybe you can get a Straman NB TDI to match that beautiful classic droptop. The Straman conversion is one of the best. Imagine a NB convertable TDI! I would get one except we really need a mini-van right now.

I'm a little confused over your name. 'carolinagolf' but you drive a Jetta. Did you own a Golf before?

This forum is what led me to make my purchase. When I first registered the model that most interested me was the GLS 5spd Golf TDI. At the time these were near impossible to find in silver or white. In the process of test driving the different vehicles I drifted more towards the Jetta (trunk space, more conventional lines, the wife liked it even though it WAS a diesel). Didn't seem worth the effort to change the name once I did purchase the Jetta, especially considering I am surrounded by golf courses in my neck of North Carolina.
