That hurts....
And that's the "good" lane! I hit one the other day when my girlfriend was sleeping and scared the crap out of her! It's pretty sad... every year they patch this same section and the spring rains wash it right back out. Patch on top of patch.

Holy crap, the parkway is bad!

Also, why are you going so fast? You're going to destroy your suspension.

^^^! I guess there are just too many to try to steer around them, too...
Yeah it doesn't look like steering around is even a possibility. Note to self: don't take the Palisades Parkway when I'm in that area in two weeks.

Going faster helps skim over the top of the potholes :) I have a full set of Koni Yellows sitting in the garage. I was thinking of installing them this weekend before heading on vacation, but I guess I'll wait until the new layer of patch gets put down.

I usually drive the Jetta with it's 15" snow tires this time of year, but I've had several problems back to back with it. Right now it's brakes.

Looks like a road from somewhere between Houston and Mobile. Gotta love DA swamp!

What god forsaken, third world country is this filmed in?

Another note: be careful with the pot holes, as you could end up killing a wheel bearing. I lost a wheel bearing on some rumble strips in a construction zone on a cross-country trip in the Passat.

Ha! now that you mention it, all those Russian dash cam videos I've been watching look much better? This is the "Palisades Interstate Parkway" It basically runs from the George Washington bridge, out through New Jersey and back into NY to the Bear Mountain bridge. I use the very northern part near the BMB. It's the reason I can never swap my snows out when I want to. Maybe by the end of April it'll be patched together enough to get my nice wheels back on. That should give me enough time to get the 18"BBS RCs refinished for the Jetta. Right now, even the 17s on it wouldn't be pretty.

10 years now taking that route.

9W/202 looks a lot nicer, although it's probably a lot longer. I love taking the Palisades Parkway to 9W from the GWB to the TZB.

That's miserable, our gravel roads are in better shape.

I can go about 5 miles out of my way and take 293 to 9W around West Point military academy and avoid the Palisades (do when it snows). Luckilly I don't have drive much of the Palisades - just the last couple miles. I take the Bear Mountain Bridge eastbound to get to work and then head south on 6/202 to 9. I work just north of the TZB. That section just south of the BMB (the 'goat trail') is beautiful. Every so often we see a Bald Eagle. There are supposed to be Falcons nesting at the bridge, but I haven't seen them (that I know of). I've hiked the top of the mountain there too - Anthony's nose I believe it's called?

I've been commuting since I graduated college in '87. 40 miles fo 9 years, 53 for 9 and now a little over 60 for 10 (the shortest possible distance). I'm so used to it, it doesn't phase me any more. Scary - I've become desensitized and more agressive (my girlfriend is working on me). For people who preach defensive driving I always reply 'the best defense is a good offense'
