my engine is cutting out very briefly and it happens periodically and sporadically - seems to be getting worse - starts runs and idles great otherwise - only code showing is for an oxygen sensor - WOndered if this is caused by the oil pressure valve in the valve train or if it is the throttle body??? or perhaps something else - the dealer swears it is the valve train - any insights?? 2015 golf

I see - SO the sensor fails and causes the cars to cut out briefly and sporadically??? And the dealers wont fix this issue under warranty??? MY dealer is awful and they have been a complete joke and a waste of time and money - They seem to have many reasons not to cover the warranty and its many offerings - I have already spent 200 on diagnosis at the dealer and I have purchased 400 in parts I may not even need - ANd I still dont know exactly what is wrong with the car!! I have 2 competent mechanics telling me the opposite of what the dealer recommends for the fix - The dealer wanted 5400 to make the car run properly - I took it in for a few dash lights/codes - very frustrated at this point - incredibly stressful

I second Oilhammers diagnosis. Mine drove me crazy, would cut out and then take about 15 minutes before it would start again. Wouldn't set a code. Finally one day, after about a year of this, it finally set a code. Replaced the CPS, and that solved my problem.

very interesting - the dealer now says the car may not need an oil pressure sensor valve afterall (after they diagnosed and charged $200 to decifer my codes) - They are now doing a regen (whatever that means???) and replacing the B1 S1 O2 sensor all under warranty - we shall see how it runs

thank you guys so much - I told my trusted mechanic as the dealer wont fix it under warranty unless the dash light comes on for this crank sensor

UPDATE - The dealer replaced my B1 S1 O2 sensor and did a regen (they burned up much of my fuel!) They said the O2 sensor was very gummed up and caked up - Warranty covered work - Now they claim the car is good to go and no issues - I ordered a crankshaft sensor just to have one on hand - We shall see how this car runs in the next few weeks - longer trips planned so that is good - I have been told to drive it longer distances at least every 3 months -

UPDATE #2 Well thanks again you guys - The engine still cuts out after the dealer worked on it for two days!! I payed them $200 to diagnose the car and they said they dont know what is wrong - Just throwing parts at it for the most part - they even even tried to place blame on my super cool and honest (YES HONEST) mechanic! He replaced my timing belt a few weeks ago - SO bottom line - #1 The dealer is not able to fix or diagnose the car properly even after taking your money for diagnosis - The dealer will not honor the fantastic warranty in favor of the consumer #3 The dealer lies and has very little integrity - completely unethical and shady - next step is replacing the crankshaft sensor - wish me luck and positivity - This experience is utterly rediculous :)

And only after having work done and not fixing it, is when they listen LOL. Should have just told them to replace it the first time and skip over this waste of time with the dealer.

the dealer service manager has agreed to look at the car again - perhaps with a differnet technician he said - I guess I am just in high hopes of the dealer fixing my issues under warranty - I am broke after my timing belt replacement and buying new struts all around!! My mechanic said around 400$ to replace the crankshaft sensor :( SO here is my next question - What should I do if the sensor does not fix the cutting out issue??? The dealer swears it is the oil pressure valve/housing) - Other mechanics think it may be the throttle body - My step dad told me to buy another car!!!

Why not just do it yourself? It's right behind the oil filter housing.

cool - I guess I could try - I am not a very good mechanic - I am a musician - some folks report that it is a 3 hour job!! but that it only takes 1 - so it would likely take me 4 or 5 hours - and I would break something most likely

There are just too many to list....
I'm curious, ask your step dad how someone who is "broke" and cannot afford a $400 repair is supposed to go buy another car? Or is he buying you one? And if he is, wouldn't it be far less expensive for him to just pay the $400 to fix your car?

I mean, hey, you can let the dealer continue on the 'Warranty Roulette' game and shot gun parts at I suppose. Or if they are refusing any warranty coverage at all, that's a different route to take. If it is under warranty, just call VW customer care.

This is a common issue with the CRUA/CVCA engines, it baffles me how the dealerships are clueless about it. But whatever.

Yea my stepdad is the one who talked me into this bad #@* amazing 2015 TDI!!! UPDATE#4 Now the dealer has agreed to put on the crankshaft sensor (that I purchased and delivered on my pedal bike!) And the car coded for the dealer and it now needs a new DPF - It is supposed to be ready on Thurs! ALL covered under warranty - And VW hooked me up with a 23 Altima rental (dont like it) - haha - The DPF without a core is 2400$ I just hope that car will run for me - It only has 122K - I have taken very good care of it and I dont drive like a teenager - I miss my 03tdi :) Oh yea quick question??? What other emissions related parts may fail in the long run?? They have already replaced my def injector and lines/B1 S1 O2 sensor/DPF - I want to drive it to 400k like my 03 car

I think if you drove like a teenager, you wouldn't have that DPF issue ;) Best way to get it to 400k is to get rid of all that emissions crap.

It's like having an EGR in your car is the same as smoking cigarettes. Your lungs will deteriorate in the long run. In this case, your engine will wear out faster.

UPDATE # 12.5 Well the dealer has claimed my car needs 4 additional sensors within the dpf - one of which is not available and backordered - going on 3 weeks of repair time - I dont expect to get the car back next week - I dont even even expect the dealer to fix the car properly but I guess trust can be a powerful thing - After my mis diagnosis and multiple visits to the dealer along with so many holes in their time frames and procedures I dont even know how to feel anymore - And I have to pay for insurance on my rental for several weeks - very expensive - so far the dpf - the crankshaft sensor - the def injector and lines along with the S1 B1 O2 sensor have been replaced - They also did a regen and now 4 more sensors are apparantly needed which I know nothing about yet - Lord only knows what could be next - perhaps the dealers love to milk these warranties and make some cash - they have agreed to refund my $200 diagnose fee - Although after they burn all my fuel with all their many tests and shuffles/procedures and my exorberant insurance fees they have screwed me financially - I have already spent over 3k just trying to maintain the car properly (timing belt - struts - fluids/filters etc...) - the dealer is puttting on several more thousand worth of parts and sensors - WHAT GIVES? We are approaching the value of the car with parts and labor!!

I'm curious to know why they say it needs the remaining of the sensors. Unless when they go and replace the DPF, they are pre-ordering the sensors incase none or some of them cant be removed and trying to eliminate downtime.

Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to fix this car?? ( It cuts out intermittently and briefly) completed so far : B1S1 O2 sensor - crankshaft position sensor - dpf and associated sensors - def injector and lines - regen - The car did code on the throttle body actuator several months back - The dealer said some sort of EGR part can get clogged - I am hoping to get this car running properly someday - Been working at it for 4 months!!!! still under warranty

I dont think its the throttle flap that goes because of the EGR not operating correctly due to the plugged ports in the intake manifold. Usually its clean the ports and replace the valve. Although, The throttle flap has known to go bad on these and have seen a couple of them replaced.
