If you drive the car normally you will still be doing better then stock. If you push the car hard all the time you will getting mid 35-38 mpg.

I didn't have much to go on with the stock exhaust and turbo, but I seem to hit about 48mpg on the freeway staying under 75mph running the A/C with the mods in my sig (exhaust has high-flow cat, resonator, and stock catback.) One partial tank with no head/crosswind was around 51. Will have more samples this summer. Around town I'm closer to low 30s.. mainly because I can't keep my foot out of it.

Anybody having a sort of shudder in the car after doing the turbo and stage 3? I talked to Jfettig about this and he suggested it was the flywheel. I'm not sure tho. It happens at low RPM, high torque situations. For example passing someone on the highway in 6th gear... once the car hits boots it starts to shudder and I can hear what sounds like a wastegate fluttering. I still have to run some more logs and get the tune dialed in, Jon I'll get those to you soon, I have been working on my stainless 3" exhaust but should have it done this week then I will log. EGT's are getting to high and I can feel the boost start to be pulled away at the top of 3rd gear.

I get the same fluttering sound on my car right at peak TQ but I am Stage 2.

When I logged it, I was maxing out the stock boost sensor right at peak TQ, so I wasn't able to see if the boost was fluttering or not.

Reading the comments I decided to install stock turbo output dampener as opposed to Neuspeed one next week when my car will get the turbo swapped.

What does the TDI use to regulate boost pressure? When I boost and let off I get a "pshhh" noise like a wastegate or DV.

Neuspeed Turbo Damper and APR Carbonio intake.

Been running both those fine for as long as I have had the car, and it didnt start until the stage 3 tune was present.

And you're complaining about possible surge? Really? Maybe adding one of these may help, it's shiny and bolts on.

I didn't see anywhere I was complaining? Just trying to see what could be causing this...Are you trying to start something? Because if you are you may want to work on your trolling a bit...

I would start by putting the stock turbo damper and airbox back and see what effect that has.

Why use the search when this is THE thread for the CR170 turbo? I was not off topic, I was not asking any stupid questions, and I was not thread-jacking... My problem started after the stage 3 tune, thus is why I am asking if anybody else (many people in this thread are stage 3) is having the same problem that I am. I thought Canadians were supposed to be nice folk..?

Anyway......
Thanks for your advice, I will replace the turbo damper and see what changes that makes. I will report back with my findings.

and yea Ill get some logs..

Pull the intake off as well. There are threads discussing the greatness of crap air intakes already. I suspect your issue is just simply the DMF though. Unless you have an outstandingly strong flywheel.

I don't know enough about DMF's. Can you explain to me the issue with the DMF and stage 3 and why changing to a single is desired? Thanks in advance.

Will get those logs just after I get my 3" on.
Before that would be awesome too, get some nice back to back comparisons.

A DMF is 2 pieces that have springs to let them rotate a little. You are making too much torque, maxxing out the springs and hitting the stops.
