So, I have been talking with Andrew (2Micron) about doing this to my car for months...literally. I had originally contacted him about the filter kits, but as our conversations grew longer we moved into the CP3 realm. Well, I finally got the time to devote to doing it, so we got serious about it. I know the failure rate of the current CP4.1 is rather low, but I just didn't want to have to deal with it anymore. Out of site, out of mind. Plus, I have gone onto Stage III and figured at some point I would want to push the car further, which the CP3 has plenty of room to go as far as pressure and flow capabilities. But, my main reason is reliability and longevity...I want the car to last. I may never mod it any further...who knows. Next step will probably be a stronger clutch. Anyway, Andrew put me in contact with a place to source the pump, and he sent me his parts to do the install, along with the 2Micron pre-filter so that we could feed the new pump pure "Unicorn piss!". I received everything on Monday, and started the install yesterday...finishing it up today. Runs like a champ! Here are some photos and my initial start up video...enjoy! Any questions, just shoot!

Also, here is the link to the beginning of experimentation and ideas for making this pump work, by 2Micron!

Drivable? Tune? Power increase/decrease? MPG increase/decrease?
Drives the same as before. Starts up and shuts down quicker though which is nice. Same tune that was already in it. Haven't driven it far enough yet to check mileage. Will update this thread over time!

Wow! Looks great. I'm surprised it fits so nicely. It does look like it should have from the factory. It'll be nice to hear more in the future about it's operation. Putting one on my shopping list!

Thanks, I thought the same thing to myself when I got it in there. Just looks right!

I should add that I don't believe Andrew is looking to put these kits into production just yet. I hope that by creating this thread his e-mail doesn't get inundated with requests. We will let him add to this thread when he can and talk more about it.

Yukon---great timing, with the recent warranty letter and VoA seemingly sticking to the limits outlined within, Andrew is probably going to see greater demand and will need to ramp up production of his various products. Would you mind disclosing what the cost of the CP3 was compared to the CP4.1? Is the adapter kit in the same price range as the containment/pure flow kits (I believe that is what they are called)?

Great job! I thought about this for awhile and talked to Andrew but couldn't find one I could afford (used/new/reman) at the time. ID Parts sells the CP3 used for the Jeep Liberty for $1200 or so but I think Andrew said he could source them for $800?

YukonXL will chime in with more information i'm sure.

Thanks for your contributions to the community!

I can't give any information on the cost of what a potential "kit" might be, that's something Andrew would have to disclose when he is ready.

Well add this to the list of mods to make when I do the timing belt. Andrew you are a saint. You should really apply for a job with VW, it would be hard to turn down your credentials when you plop down a working filter and pump

You are assuming that Andrew would want to work for VW (I agree with you about the other parts). I get the feeling that he is quite happy where he is. What I would like to see is VW (and/or Bosch) licensing his designs and incorporating them into their systems. That way he can stay at home with his family and tinkering in his barn (or garage) while they deposit money into his bank accounts.

Have Fun!

Did some data logging this morning. Multiple runs up to redline, smooth as silk!

This is cool! Keep us posted. :)

You can blame it on his thread! I have been looking forward to seeing a thread about someone else doing this! :)
I am happy with east coast fuel and my 2micron kits for now, but it's always good to have a backup plan!

I sourced my pump from Specialist Diesel Injection Services in the UK. A brand new pump shipped was $670.15, with a 1 year warranty. They also sell remanufactured pumps for slightly less, with the same warranty. They claim the remans to be as good as the new ones.

sorry about that, I worded my message wrong, was looking for the cost difference between pumps. (seems to be about $100.00US) also just wondering about how much needed to be added/changed/eliminated from the current set-up as opposed to going with the pure flow and containment set-up.

Buying an '09-'12 JSW
So, I'm shopping for a TDI. Looking at either a B4V Passat from 1996 for its' "old school" mechanical design and German build, or an '09-up JSW. I'm a little anxious about the HPFP problems and living in the "trash fuel dump" Pac. Northwest, it's a possibility of junk in the fuel in any used cars I might buy around here. So, is this a replacement for the current fuel pumps on the CFR engines?

Beta testing I believe for a direct replace to cp3 I believe
Extra protection available for the present cp4 of the 09 and newer you are looking at by installing a kit available from 2micron on the forum.
Could be a waiting list for the filter kit.
Nothing sitting on a shelf waiting for you to buy

Drove the car 3 1/2 hours each way to Waterfest this weekend, ran perfect! I have been driving it every day since the install, not a single hiccup. Filled it up on the way back from Waterfest and I'm about 250 miles into this tank of fuel. The fuel gauge is showing more fuel in the tank then where I'm usually at around this mileage. Don't know why there would be any change in fuel mileage honestly, but so far it's doing better than the old pump! Will report back when I get to the end of this tank :)

Performed a small "tweak" tonight and did more data logging. Got her dialed!

I can kiss my gas mileage for this tank goodbye now though :D

Nice work Yukon!! Thanks for helping out with this project and going into the Tdi history books as a
True pioneer!!
For anyone interested, we experimented with a few different metering valves, and ended up full circle with the stock "unmodified" metering valve that originally came with this pump. As well, Yukon's car is running a standard, up to date Stage 3 Malone tune!!
Awesome data, actual fuel pressure follows the specified fuel pressure like it should.
Also lots more room on this pump to maintain higher pressure!!!
This system is 100% bolt on, no modifications to the car required and pure "Plug and Play."
Good job Yukon!!
Thank you!!

They are reliable as all get out.
Cummins has them in their Dodge Diesels and we do lots of fun stuff with em.
Starve them till we put a proper lift pump in.
Over work em puttin more fuel in to the injectors and they just don't .....seem to be a problem

Thanks again for everything, Andrew! It has been an absolute pleasure working with you on this!

The drive into work this morning was probably my best drive ever. Power delivery is ridiculously smooth, and throttle response is better than it has ever been. The car just works. Couldn't be happier!

Now to start seeing what this thing can do...aggressive Stage III, or maybe Stage IV, we shall see :D:D
