I didn't do it myself, but my HP outlet was switched to the back after the initial installation on the front port. The work was done at German Diesel Motorwerks (GDM) and 2micron made me a custom-bent HP fuel line. He said he had a jig to make it an easy task for him. It had beautiful smooth bends with no scars like you can get with more crude bending techniques. I think bending the HP fuel line might be the hardest part.

Fingers crossed I’ll have mine on tomorrow, I’m about 30/42 pages through this and the knowledge is invaluable.

We are just about to pull the EGR off to get the old pump off. Those rubber hoses and fuel lines are a PITA for sure, original on 97k.

I also spent the last hour worrying if I set the Crank to TDC before I took the belt off so I had my dad send me a pic and it’s good.

Take breaks everybody, not worth messing something up. 🙂

well it’s in, begrudgingly. I’m basically replacing the pulleys now and working on getting the timing belt back in so I can take engine off jack. The EGR was a pain to remove, and I still need to pull it off manifold side and put blocking plate on, but don’t think I can get it from the top unfortunately, I’ll keep reading and searching for info.

I finally got around to getting a few pics. I am about 1500 miles on the install. I built the bracket for the wix mount for Cat 0750 filter and got it installed as well. The first tank of fuel I did drop to about 39 mpg, but have been averaging mid 40s since. I did drive the hell out of it the first tank though, making sure I wasn't going to throw any rail pressure codes or anything. I was already tuned for delete from Martin and he told me there was no additional tuning for the Whitbread kit, and as usual, he was correct. Everything is fine as wine as of now.

how did you get your high side EGR pipe out, I’ve been struggling with it all day.

I never intended to delete this, now but it makes less bending in the fuel line for those that are nervous about it like I was.

EDIT: I figured it out, manifold side I used small box end wrench and I got the bottom bolt out, and 1/4 wrench with wobble and I went above the charge tube with plenty of space to break loose.

High Side EGR is wiggly now, I’m trying to cut it in the back so I can pull out front. Also you can see the hidden T30 in the front, red circles

I already had the race pipe installed, so I didn't have to mess with it at all. It was a bugger to get out when I removed it for the delete though. I took it and the asv out together and then reinstalled separately, putting the asv back in the boost pipe, and sliding the pipe in between, and bolting back together. It definitely was not fun.

im curious how you got that wix mount setup!
also, your dipstick tube looks awfully close (if not touching) your HPFP line

The dipstick isn't touching, but it is close. I built the filter bracket. I came up with a very simple design that is quite rugged. I'll get some pics, but to be honest, I am having a terrible time figuring out how to post pictures the way other people are.

I did it all from my phone, go to https://forums.tdiclub.com/index.php?media/ and choose Add Media, at the bottom of the list is "Create Personal Album" then I could choose to upload from my Photo Library, then when I made a post, I chose the "Gallery Embedded" button, which pulls right from my personal album on TDIClub

ALL DONE! Took sometime to pressurize with VCDS and crank, but now it’s starting without hesitation. No weird noises from the timing belt area either.

the only issue we have so far is the high pressure line or the fuel supply Banjo is leaking, letting it sit over night with a paper towel to see what it soaks up and what I have to tighten.

I’m having a hard time deciding between what CP3 conversion to go with. I have read every post I can find on CP3 conversions and see the advantage to both the Fisher/ Cascade German kit and the Darkside/ Whitbread kit.

I like the idea of removing the Aux pump with the Whitebread / Darkside kit. The main downside I see is the difficulty to get a pump if something happens. To my understanding the pump is no longer in production and they only offer remanufactured ones. Long wait time in the event of needing a new pump.

The appeal of the Cascade German/ Fisher kit is the ability to easily get a pump from the US and it’s still in production. Also I can get a lifetime warranty on a pump. The downside is you must keep the Aux pump. The Aux pump can fail over time and is more crap in the engine bay more to go wrong.

To me there is no clear winner, but maybe I’m just in too deep and can’t see the obvious answer. Your input would be much appreciated.

My car is a 2012 JSW manual with EGR delete and a down pipe. I still have the ASV and a tune for current mods. Will be doing timing belt soon and want to do the CP3 pump at the same time.

That's not accurate. The Whitbread kit does use a remanufactured pump from United diesel but new pumps can be purchased (not from Whitbread or United). As someone that has done both, I recommend getting rid of the intermediate pump for many reasons.
And United Diesel can turn around a pump and a matter of days (or just buy a new one) or several of us here keep one in stock.
I think the Whitbread kit is by far the most installed and is the original kit from 2micron.
Don't get me wrong, the Cascade kit is a good kit but I prefer the Whitbread

Yes or what I do is just remove it and put it in the glove box. How often are you pulling the engine?
it can be useful for things like replacing the motor mount, or sliding the engine forward/backward for better clearance to the turbo or intake system

Does anyone have a link or a source for a new pump that works with the Whitbread kit?

Also do you recommend the Darkside kit or the Whitbread kit? What one would be “best”?

Removing the motor lifting mount and keeping it on had is a great idea.

hmm is that supposed to be an question or an tip? based on how you said it.....
It’s a question. My apologies.

Could a pigtail be made with the plug that comes with the Whitbread kit and a repair harness to plug into the stock CP4 harness. Does anybody know what repair plug would be needed to make this. I guess I’m looking for the CP4 metering valve side harness.

Keep the info flowing. I have my Whitbread kit with the United reman BMW R70, which came with the 643. I have the 2200 bar sensor. TuneZilla stage 2. Thinking of getting the Whitbread timing belt cover and the Fluidampr, because I just put a Valeo SMF on in place of the DMF, since my slave cylinder went bad at 92k. I think, and from what I have read, my understanding is that my BMW R70 will still require the intermediate pump. Correct me if I have gone astray reading 42 pages of this thread over the past 4 days. I should be beginning the attempt to convert this weekend, but I'll need to have that cover and balancer sent pretty damn quick to get it all in time. Of course I will be adding the tune for the 2200 and CP3 as well... I'm still running the DPF and ERG, but thinking of deleting on the EGR since my state has no emissions and the thing makes it more difficult to install the new pump. Unfortunately also thinking of doing the alternator and thermostat while its all there.., FML!

it is also my understanding that the bmw sourced cp3 pumps do not have the built in lift pump thus requiring you to retain your factory one.

TDI Fluidampr and Whitbread CR TDI lower timing belt cover on order as well... DieselGeek sent the incorrect timing kit removal, but service via email was quick and the parts are going out today, to include new harmonic balancer bolts. fingers crossed they arrive Thursday since Friday is the Forth of July, and this long weekend should give me enough buffer to work through any issues... (hopefully)

Did you buy your Whitebread kit and CP3 pump from a guy on facebook? Someone had this exact setup forsale a few months ago and I messaged him stating that mounting kit and pump do not go together. You need Cascade/Fisher CP3 mounting kit to fit the BMW CP3 onto your TDI.

@Ajlal24 No, I bought it directly from Whitbread's website... anyone else confirm this before I tear my car apart?
I just emailed Matt Whitbread for confirmation. I'll update once I receive word back.

Matt responded back and said I do not have the BMW pump, which I assumed I did, since the R70 markings on the pump shown in link below.
I also need to remove the intermediate pump he states, which is a good thing from what I gather from the consensus.

You have the correct pump for the Whitbread kit, the actual BMW CP3 does got have the finned gear drive on the back of the pump like yours does have. Note, you'll need to remove the cylindrical inline fuel pump under the hood as its not used for the CP3 pump you have.
