Is there a way to stop the AC turning on when i turn on the fan

Do you have it set to defrost? If so just turn the defrost off, of course that will increase the likelihood of your windows fogging.

Its not on defrost, set to half/half (feet and face) vents.

must be a change on the 2011s. As my 2010 doesn't have the AC on unless i rotate it to defrost, or I toggle the AC switch. I can peg the temp nob all the way cold and ac won't kick on until i hit the AC switch

If you don't have it set on coldest, (say one notch above coldest) does the AC still kick on? Might just be a setting, in that it thinks you really want to be cold if you have it cranked all the way, so it turns on the AC for you.

As for the Bluetooth, what does the 2011 Jetta have for a module? Might be that the, smaller MFD can't support the name and number where previous gens could.

I think it's just on the very coldest level. It turns on the A/C and recirc. automatically. I'll test it at lunch and see if it does it on the notch lower too. Otherwise I just push the A/C button to turn it off if I don't want it on.

Yup. If the knob is rotated to the coldest position it turns on A/C. If you go to just before the notch it won't turn on as soon as fan goes on.

Also, if you were running AC and turned off the fan next time you turn the fan on AC comes on with it.

When i have an incoming call i'd like the display screen to show the phone number or callers name is there a way to do that, and maybe even show a keypad shown here http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a6/9w7-VW-bluetooth-module.htm
Unfortunately not. That is the full MFD which will on be available (so far) on the 2012 GLI. It is an option on the 2011 Golf and JSW - and was available I believe on the 2010 Jetta Sedan as well as the Golf/JSW.

I am hoping that there will be a cluster available for the 2011 Jetta Sedan TDI with the full MFD. Until then we have what we have.

This is the case. Thanks.

The car assumes that when you've got the dial set to full cold, you want the car cool RIGHT NOW. Hence why it turns on the AC. If you turn the temperature knob carefully, you'll feel that there's a little click when you go to full cold...that's turning on the AC. If you carefullyturn the knob to almost full cold (to where the line is before the dot mat king full cold) the AC will not turn on.
