Cost of a V10 TDI

I went to VW looking for specs on the V10 and the only think they could tell me is that its HEAVY and cost $26,000 new! and that doesn't include the ECU or any good stuff like that
i don't know if the turbo's come with it but i would hope so!

All I can say that if you do find one for sale it will be at least $10,000 for the engine alone. This ain't no Cummins. Just look at the difference in price of a new Touareg with this motor compared to one with a gas V8. All I can say is wait for the 4.2 diesel from Audi, it kills the V10.

I looked at the 4.2L, Not a bad engine but it lacks a little HP for my app. i need an engine that can Spin and spin-up fast. the 4.2 would be a good idea for a smaller sandrail but but what i'm trying to do is put it in a V10 In a 4 seater. take a look here is what i'm using as a base line for desing.

One other problem i have is that fact that the engine is not out yet and that there are no powerups for it atleast that i could find. maybe some day there will be. and about the cummins thing. a big I6 Like the 5.9 and up where build to spin up to speed and stay there not to bounce around. the where orgianly desinged to run generators. these VW engines are BUILD for cars & suvs. The V10 has slightly higher Powerratings and i have alrady found a guy that will chip one to bring it up to 750+ Ft-lbs. More then enough to lift the frount end off the ground!

The Cummins was not originally designed for generator use. It won't spin as fast at the VW V10 but you can easily get 1200 lb-ft of torque out of the Cummins 5.9 I don't think that is currently possible with the VW V10...

Did you really expect to find one of these V10s for cheap? The ECU is the cheap part of the engine, I'm sure $26,000 includes both turbos. The hard part would be to get the thing to run in your sandrail. Since it is all electronically controlled it's not nearly as easy as just dropping a small block in there and wiring it up...

There's a guy over here(england) that races with the V10 tdi , he has around the 600hp and 1200lbs and races in the British GT class against Ferrari , porsche , merc's.

I am wondering if there is enough room behind the seats of a Corrado to mount one of these motors. Mid engine RWD V10 TTDI Corrado is my current crazy idea. I'm not sure if there is enough room between the rear seats and the wheel wells for the engine and transmission though...
