Cornsilk trim - headrest minitors

Part of the agreement with my wife in purchasing my Passat was that it has movies for our 3 young children (2/4/6) since it is effectively replacing our minivan with 2 rows of screens. So I got the SEL with RNS510 that plays them and will enable output (at speeds>6MPH). I installed some DVD players/headrest monitors in another vehicle that I had mixed thoughts on. They looked great, but were not easy to control by mom and day, not just the little ones. Thus, the RNS510 to control and just use monitors for the rear.

Now, my dilemma. I have the cornsilk interior. It is lighter than the more common tan interiors I have had before. I am cheap and won't pay $500+ for headrest monitors/players/etc. :) The generic headrest DVD player/monitors colors on Ebay do not match. I am not enthusiastic about cutting the OEM ones without having replacement/backups. Any source of this material? Any brilliant ideas?

We use iPad's with headrest mounts for our kids. They are great and can be taken out of the car easily! Also eliminates the need for DVD's etc ... and my 3 year old already knows how to operate the iPad to get movies.

I don't care for headrest monitors, too small.

I agree, a couple iPads or any other tablets would be much better, then the kids can do more than movies, as well as you and your wife have them for yourselves outside the car.

Thanks. I am more interested in the integrated look, the kind with zipper covers. I am going to tint the windows as well. I can always buy some $100 dual screen strap on. $1000 worth of iPads plus the time to convert the library is not happening (now). Some day I am sure I will. I eventually did it for music.

The main focus of that article is about commercials and food. I don't think I've ever seen a commercial for food on a DVD. Thank you for your concern, though. We balance media in our lives with video, music, and discussion at home and mobile.

It would be nice to find some material to recover some of these aftermarket headrests.

It's a matter of balance. We normally use books on CD during family trips (kids are now 12 and 15). And we do have a couple of portable DVD players that can be used in the back seat of the car during trips (they stay stored 50 weeks/year). But we do limit electronics, and we read with our kids several hours a day when they were young.

But there are folks out there who use iPads and game consoles as a way to constantly entertain their kids. Kinda creepy. Makes me wonder why they had children in the first place.
