Container for lube

My wife works in Ashland.. But she doesn't drive the Jetta. The others are all places I know from my Short Pump living days, but to far from me now for a fillup. I'll be sure to post to that thread if I find anything out my way (Chesterfield Berry Farm). Thx

BP has stated that they don't have any such thing as Premium any more. Might want to nix them from the list.
I can only report on the stickers on the pump. If I get a chance I may attempt to follow-up and have the station verify that the stickers on the pump are correct. I can't say based on performance since I've never fueled up there.

I went ahead and bought on the group buy of Optilube XPD. I'm interested in the lube additive, so I might as well start with a highly recommended one with no shipping cost. When I'm over in Washington, I will try the summer blend to cut the costs down, even though they aren't that high to begin with.

For the OP, I will look at some of the recommended containers. First thing I have to work on is training the wife to add the stuff when she fills up the Passat, as she is the primary driver (I ride my motorcycle most days).

EDIT: After researching them further; only primary difference between XPD and summer is the lack of Cetane improver in the summer blend, and the low treatment rate (3000:1).

If lubricity is your primary concern I would use the summer blend at the 1500:1 ratio to maximize lubricity agents; both products will still improve water separation ;)
I would like to see another test done with the 1500:1 mix ratio to see how it stacks up to XPD.

Indeed, given some of the questions in this forum. I wouldn't mind seeing about funding another couple of tests if there is enough interest.

Another thing I just discovered, it was always a pain to get additive from the jug into the bottles without a mess, and I was loading up my recyclables bin when I noticed one of those new generation liquid laundry detergent gallon jugs, the ones designed to sit right on the washer and have the push-button spigot. I know that the jugs are polyethelene, i wasn't so sure about the valve parts, but I thought if it could withstand the additive chemicals, it would work wonderully in filling up my 4oz. bottles. So I VERY thoroughly rinsed out the jug multiple times to remove any soap residue and let it drain/dry. Then I did it again. Then I put a bit of PS in the jug and tilted it so the additive was in direct contact with the valve guts, and set it over a plastic bucket overnight to see if it would leak. After 24 hours it seems to be fine, so I poured the remaining PS into it and trial filled my remaining 4oz bottles. IT WORKS GREAT! Another plus is that I can store the jug upright with the valve not in contact with the additive so no leaks are possible. I just drop it down into position as needed, fill up my bottles, and set it back upright. So far it seems to be a great system.
FYI I tried this method and after about a year the rubber button on the dispensing valve had been eaten away to the point where the container leaked quite badly when I placed the container horizontal for filling my car containers.

This was on a Kirkland (Costco) brand detergent bottle. I always stored it such that the valve and cap were up when not using it to dispense.

I found this out after I bought another bottle of Stanadyne and had to hurriedly pour the stuff back into the original bottle and ended up losing several ounces and making a huge mess.

I use my empty cetane boost bottles. They're just shy of 12oz. I make a big 380L batch of additives, and I spread it out in 7oz portions in all the empty cetane bottles I've kept.

The cetane bottles have a nice childproof lid, and are meant for storing the cetane boost stuff.. so I figure the bottles are "appropriate" for storing and carrying my additives in the car. No smells, leak proof, long neck, and "free" as I buy them for my batches anyways..

Considering I fill up 2-3 times a week, I make a big batch every few weeks.
