Constant Buzzer

Did a search, couldn't find anything on this problem.

Turned on my headlights when I got into my already-started car this morning, and a constant warning buzzer goes off. The door light is on, the car is running, and it's just a constant buzzzzzzzzzz. When I turned the headlights off, it went to an intermittent beeping. Beep...Beep....Beep. Headlights on, back to a constant buzz.

Door switch? Sensor? What the hell. It goes off after 3 or 4 minutes, but still friggin weird. Behind the buzz, it sounds like a faint horn sound as well, like it doesn't have enough power. Wiring? Battery issue?

Any help/suggestions is appreciated, thanks :)

Is there anyway to know for sure? Or am I just better off switching it? Is it the drivers side that sets off the alarm? Or could it be any of the doors? Where exactly is the switch? I saw the door-disassemble diagram, and it was confusing as to where the door switch was exactly. Given, I didn't look at it for very long, but still.

Just realized my door wont lock either. Will unlock, but won't lock and alarm. I have to lock the doors from the passengers side..as well, the door light stays on. I'm guessing this means its defnitely the door switch? How annoying is that to replace?

Do these cars ever go more than a week without some new, annoying problem?

What car do you have?

I haven't done any work on my car in months, at least before the summer. That's rare for just about any car.

Rest assured it will come back again, door microswitch problems are often intermittent to start.

Would've been nice if it at least held off for a bit, but no, sure enough, get home last night and set the alarm....

I bought the switch from Radio Shack/The Source a few days ago, going to attempt to put it in today at work on my lunch break.

Which, reminds me, I'm sure I can find it, but if anyone can help me with a slight list of tools I need, and or quick info on how to do it, that'd be appreciated. I know there's a large write-up on it, but it's large, and I'm working, so not a lot of time to try to understand it. If anyone can sum it up in a few steps that'd be awesome, and/or the tools I will need so I can check if I have them. Please? Thank you? I'll send you a Christmas card?

You must have a long lunch break. Takes a few hours to get all the stuff out.
Supposed to be 30 minutes, but I run the place, sooo, I can extend it a little.

Probably the door switch but did you have a low battery (or dead battery) that needed boosting?

When your doors will unlock but will not lock the dead battery could be the culprit. I disconnected my battery and touched the leads together (to short the car's electrical system) and then re-attached the battery.
I have heard if you wait long enough (couple days sometimes) the lock issue will fix itself too. This fixed the lock/unlock issue.

but yes, most likely you need a new switch for your driver's door.

Haven't had a dead battery, no. But it is fairly weak, and needs to be replaced sooner rather than later.
