Console cup holder

I just bought a '13 Passat SEL and am missing a small part. Clearly there should be a divider that lives in the console cup holder. Mine is missing. I've done some searches on eBay and Amazon but have not seen the appropriate part. Does anyone have an idea how I could get my hands on one of these?

There's no divider in my 2014. There is a slight raised area between the two holder holes, but nothing that rises to (or near) the top of the cup holder.

Yes; no divider, and we've had this car since new.

The 2012 and earlier models had a single elongated recessed cup-holder with a removable divider that could be adjusted to fit specific cup sizes. If you lost the divider, the cup holder was useless.

The 2013 and up models has a newer design: Two connected cup recesses, with spring-loaded fingers to hold cups or bottles of any size.

Sounds like a justification for cutting some production cost out of the vehicle.

I'd say that the manufacturing costs went up when they did this. But it was the right thing to do. Check out the center consoles between the two years here:

It was changed to make room for the air duct for the rear air vents. The 2012 cupholder is deeper, and has a door you can close.

A mod to make room for the duct makes sense too. As for manufacturing expense, surely the 2012 with the door and a separate divider is the more expensive proposition.

2012 also had the rear ducts in the floor under the front seats.

...but there was no ducting through the console or outlets on the back of the console like most of the 2013+ cars.

Part number 561-857-078-82V was used in production from 01/2011 through 04/2011. It is no longer available and has been replaced with the part used from 05/2011, which is 561-857-078-A-82V.
