Common Toureg issues new buyers need to be aware of

What are the most common issues a prospective owner needs to be aware of and do those issues apply to all Touregs or model specific? For instance, the driveshaft bearing failure at 60k, or the plenum drainage deal?
Also, the tow rating seems to be the same for all models regardless of horsepower or torque-what's up with that?
Thanks

Tow rating is based on the chassis, not how powerful the engine is.

Other common issues are covered extensively at http://www.clubtouareg.com - one of the best online resources for all Touaregs.

I'm very glad I bought a 100,000 mile 10 year Platinum from Fidelity when I bought my 2012 Touareg TDI.

I took it to the dealer today, with its 5th check engine light...the first four all related to the Ad Blue system (injector, heater, pump twice).

How much you want to bet this CEL is for an Ad Blue related issue?

The Treg has just a hair under 49k miles on it.

Oh, and the Extended Warranty has paid for itself, with about $1k to spare, and counting!

Thankfully, the warranty has 5 years 5 months/51k miles left on it!

Maybe the 3.0L fix will fix this horrible Ad Blue system?

Sadly Chris Farnham who, from the looks of things, sold you that warranty passed away some two years ago.

He is gone, that is correct.

My sig is meant to be somewhat of a memorial to him.

BTW - picked the Treg up today. It was a faulty NOX sensor.

Per the paperwork, $499 for the sensor and $162.68 labor. I paid the $100 deductible.

Agree. Might throw in the driveshaft center support bearing but that's nothing too bad.
